I've got an lg 42lw5300 and am currently using the built in speakers, but I really need to upgrade.
My budget really is $250 max as the college lifestyle doesn't really support much more then that, but if I need to save up a bit more for something then I can wait (hopefully.)
I'm currently looking at the
Onkyo HT-S3400 and the
Sony HTSS380

It looks like the s5400 is worth the extra ~$100 but I'm not sure I can swing that.

Thanks for any input!

The Yamaha RX-V371 is the same receiver in the Yamaha 395BL HTiB system. There is an audio "calibration" system but it doesn't use a mic.

That is a good price, especially with the gift card if you plan on buying again from Newegg. The Monster speaker wire is a joke as part of the "deal" (2-wire 16AWG for up to 30' at 6ohms is all you need) and the HDMI cable sounds like it's High Speed (even though it doesn't say so) but without a certificate, you never know. So, if you disregard those two items, the price is still good.

It's actually a few dollars more if you don't buy the package with the speaker wire and hdmi cable.

I really considered the newegg deal as I shop there all the time, but the $300 upfront cost was a bit more then I could spend the same day I saw the deal.

Is it better to piece it together as in the first post, or to try and find a full system that comes all together?
