I recently accepted the latest firmware upgrade for my Sony BDV-E780W home theater system. What I did not realize is that it now has cinavia protection with the new firmware. As a matter of principle, I already have this on my PS3 and as I do personal backups of my purchased Blu-Rays (mainly the kids movies as they scratch or break them on a regular basis), I only get 30 minutes of playback with sound. How can I get back to factory reset to eliminate this (usually a few keystrokes which the Sony techs know on the remote will do this)? Using the factory reset supplied on the manual will not do this.

Any ideas?

As an update to my post, I was able to download the previous version of firmware from the web. The new is M07.R.0615 (which I do not want) and the old is M07.R.0579 (this is the one I want installed). I burned it to a CD, and when I went to install it, it started the install then it said the firmware was already upgraded so it would not install. So, I am still stuck with the new firmware. How can I overcome this? Can I somehow decompile this, modify the current firmware version number to something differenct then try to reinstall? There is a *.bin and *.id file with firmware upgrade package. Any ideas to get me back to version M07.R.0579?

Thanks!
