I have a Vizo HDTV with built in digital tuner. I have my audio connected via V-AUX when I am watching local channels in HD via antenna. I would like to be able to listen to audio via HDMI if possible. I have HDMI connected via blu-ray player and Dish receiver to my Yamaha YHT-395 home theater receiver. Do I need an optical cable if HDMI won't work? Thanks in advance.

I'm not familiar with your Vizio but it has to be ARC capable as well as the receiver (which is the RX-V371 and is ARC capable. I have the same receiver). Otherwise, to listen to 5.1 audio via the ATSC tuner, you need to run optical out from the tv to optical in of the receiver, keeping the tv speakers off. I have OTA tv and that is how mine is setup. HDMI in from your other sources will run audio thru the receiver and pass video on to the tv. All you have to do is select the correct input. For my setup, all audio, regardless of source, is played thru the receiver so the tv's speakers are always off. A Harmony remote will work for all of your components and can be programmed to turn whatever source you want to use and correctly select the input with the push of a single button.
