Yes, I know I don't have the best BD player in the world, to say the least.

Currently firmware is v.9. According to many, many online posts, upgrading past v.9 basically bricks the unit so I have not upgraded past v.9 by design

The BD played fine about 2 or 3 times.
Now it plays the 'Magic Kingdom' animation sequences, asks me to select a language and informs me that I can 'press top/pop-up menu to skip previews and play feature', then stops playing
I've unplugged the unit (did it overnight even)
Cleared the BD data cache
Tried with/without ext memory
Disabled BD-live
Tried my friends discs
Had my friends try my disc in their players

I'm stuck!

I've had absolutely no problems at all with my Panasonic BDT-210 if you don't want to spend that much on an Oppo.

Ok, so I bought an OPPO, but the disc still won't work on my BDV-E300. Anyone else?

Works fine on the Oppo, but even still, it won't play on my Sony BDV-E300

I guess then that's your answer. It was the Sony for whatever reason. At least you can play and enjoy the movie now (and, as a bonus, a much better blu-ray player). FWIW, it works fine on my BDT-210.
