Recently purchased COBY DVD765 home theatre. Using the optical output on my ROKU to the COBY...does not work. I have my LG 47LS4500 connected w/HDMI to cable box. Have tried the optical out on the LG directly to the COBY optical input, NG. I understand there are issues with the LG optical output regarding 5.1, and that is why I thought circumventing the LG would do the trick. Any ideas??

I know it sounds silly, but I didn't know I was supposed to do this until today. Have you removed the protective plastic tips from the Optical Cable?

No, it's not silly, but yes I did remove the plastic tips. what I did uncover is that the optical connection on the Coby is an output only...so it looks like I have to buy another amp, or another HTIB. thanks for the reply, though!!!
