Hi guys,

I hope I'm in the right section and that someone can help me. I have a Samsung HT-TX75 surround sound I bought many years ago. Unfortunately it's not Blu ray so I've been considering upgrading. I started looking around and discovered that buying separate pieces as opposed to an entire system in a box might be a better way to go.

After looking at some different receivers the thought occured to me that maybe I could use my old speakers with the new receiver and new blu ray player. Do you guys think that's a good idea or will I end up finding out I need better speakers as well? The thing is my current system claims it's 1200 watts which I find hard to believe. I looked at a Yamaha RX-V373BL receiver and it says it's only 500 watts. So would this receiver power my speakers with no problems?
