I currently am using a set of speakers I used to use when I played on my PC on my TV, they're passable when playing video games but I find myself turning the volume up the max when watching TV or movies.

So I've been looking at a cheap set of 'in a box' home theatre speakers, and I came across this on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/VM-Audio-EXMS520T-Multimedia-Surround/dp/B00ALX4X2W/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1363558589&sr=8-2&keywords=vm+surround+sound

VM Audio EXMS520T 5.1 Home Multimedia Surround Sound Speaker System

I have a small living room and I don't plan on blasting the sound that high, so they seem like they'll work for me. What I'm wanting to know is do I need a reciever unit for this to work? My current speakers just hook into the TV through the 3.5mm jack, and these things I'm assuming can/do work the same way...Now will that set up work for them? I just don't want to buy them and have it not work, or sound like complete crap. Thanks in advance
