I am moving into a new house that has been prewired for 5.1 sound in the family room. It consists of built in shelving on either side of the fireplace with front speaker wiring to the top of each shelving unit (about 5ft off the ground). The rears are wired to the top of the wall(9ft) in the back of the seating area. It is an open floor plan that opens to the kitchen behind the seating area. My current receiver needs an upgrade and my Polk floor standing speakers wont work with this setup. I am looking for a receiver/speaker solution in the 1,000-1,500 range. The receiver is most important to me as I can always upgrade the speakers later. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Also, the other option I am considering is just buy a nicer receiver now with 2 bookshelf front speakers to get going. Then I can add sub, center, and rears as I go.
