This is the first post on here. I hope I am going about this the right way. I have recently hooked up my Yamaha receiver to my Sony Blu-Ray, and I am only getting the background sound. I can't hear any of the voices or speaking. The receiver works with my Samsung LCD TV, and the sound is fine. I have two Bose speakers hooked up to the receiver. The TV and the Blu-Ray are hooked up through an HDMI cable to the receiver. Please let me know what the problem could be. I can't seem to figure it out. Hopefully, it is just a simple fix.

Thank you!

Do you only have the two speakers? if so, have you configured the receiver that way? With 5.1 sources, most of the dialog is in the center channel. By configuring the AVR as a 2.0 system, it will send the dialog to the two front speakers.

Your TV works fine because it is sending a 2 channel signal. You have to configure your receiver for a 2 speaker setup. Then all audio will be sent to the front speakers.

make sure center, surrounds and subwoofer are all set to OFF or NONE if there are no other speakers connected.
