New to the audio scene and looking to purchase a sound system. My living room is only 13x18 and I have about 800 dollar budget. I as looking at a Bose gs 2 series but I have read a few bad things can anyone help me out also not interested in buying used bad experiences with it thanks.

I would steer clear of Bose altogether. For $800, you can get a nice entry level system (without an integrated blu-ray player) from Yamaha, Denon, or Onkyo.
