Bose doesn't get a whole lot of love around here. Overpriced and an under-performer. For that price point, you could probably build, with separates, a much better system that would be easily expandable down the road should you choose to do so.

Nobody said it wasn't a decent system, but at that price point, one could do much better, with higher quality and easy expandability (i.e. better speakers).

The WireCutter article is old (almost two years ago) and not quite factual anymore.

The Energy Take Classics are a decent sounding speaker system.

You paid too much. The Denon was a much better system, and if you could find it as a refurb like afrogt suggested, you could've paid a lot less for a superior system. But, if you like what you hear, that's really all that matters.

Yes, I saw that Denon but really don't have any room for big receiver, and I'm not so sure about Refurbished ...

Thanks for advice .

Why bother post the thread you just wanted confirmation..

For £450 I could build a system which'll outclass the Bose in everyway.

I think the Bose Cinemate is a good choice for your application. What kind of idiot would put a big receiver and a bunch of ugly speakers in their bedroom anyway?

Idiot is pretty strong language for a forum where we are supposed to help people and give advice, not insult them.

Lovely jubbly. Also not a receiver but stereo pre-power, DAC, and two power amps.

Me! I guess I'm an idiot too. I've got cherry Energy RC-10's as fronts and RC-Mini's as surrounds. Also a full sized Denon receiver, Energy s10.3 powered sub, Panny Blu Ray player and a 32" flat screen TV.

I like watching movies in my bedroom and if I'm gonna watch a movie I want the full 5.1 effects!

I don't think my cherry Energy RC speakers are ugly though.
