Black Velvet will exhibit a slight sheen....it is after all "Dress Velvet". People don't go around wearing "Black Holes" for formal wear.
The comments were a bit premature since obviously they do not involve any actual effort to do a "real world" test.
Also, you can't get 9' - 10' or 12'+ lengths of WalMart Curtains.
Absolutely there are alternative "make do" materials to choose from. Felt, Suede-Velvet, etc. But years of experience and hundreds of projects have shown the Sy's Velvet to be an excellent choice.
GORENOX, I know you have a Carls ProGrey screen. Carls sells a very Black Adhesive Velvet Tape in varying widths. While not up to snuff with Sy's TBV, it works as good as or better than the Wally World stuff. Cost a bit more though.
But'cha know one has to try either / both to know that.
