My initial advice was predicated on his stated desire, however I did ask for a further explanation as to why "glitter or sparkly things" were off the table, and prefaced that request with a bit of countering info.
So it seems the only real reason he felt as he did is that he encountered a less than desirable instance using a metallic supported Mix.He stated that "graininess" was an unacceptable trade off for increased brightness (...the latter being something no basic Gray can provide...)
Well there is / are alternatives that can give him what he originally desired without his having to slide backwards in potential.
As you know well, we all ask repeatedly as to the particulars of any given poster's situation and conditions when we are asked simply, "What would be a good choice for me".. In this case however the exclusion of a particular genre of choices was added, alluding to something left unstated that was affecting the breadth of potential choices as well as the flow of information.,
So we had a brief discussion, and he asked a few couple other questions. I responded with a reply based on several years experience with similar mixes as well as altering the venerable SS.
That's when you came on and offered a suggestion that would effectively deny him anything close to what he originally aspired to have. While that suggestion would lighten up any gray, it also reduces and restricts the very reasons a Gray can be advantageous.
Really...lately it seems it's more about simply offering up a rebuttal to well intended posts than really looking toward what the poster really needs / desires.
Well upon just posting this response, I see lexlynx as responded favorably to my suggestion. So let's just proceed accordingly and let him determine the validity behind the advice offered. OK?
