Ok i wanna get the benq.

i was gonna do a hand roll-up screen to fall down in front of the LED tv but after reading about SILVER paint i guess thats the best option.

I can get get eclipse curtains and I will deal with the lights in the house when I see them being left on.

my thing is this... i want a 2:35 screen 155 inchs with a lumagen aspect ratio controller is this possible with the correct FL for a decent looking screen? (not to dim)

If not what is the max diagonal screen you recommend and what silver mix do i use. You guys know what looks good way more than me so whatever you tell me to do is what i'm gonna do.

I can use the normal mode on the projector and buy more lamps too! I just want a big screen.

and what do you spray that silver mix on i heard some guys mentioning a mirror! WTF that sounds heavy!

I live in a rented house and i wanna build 2 legs coming up out of a custom built entertainment center. building furniture is my thing.

thx in advance guys.

any links i should read is appreciated.

I would suggest starting with these threads. As a noob here myself, these are where you can soak up a lot about diy screens. Other than that I'd wait for MississippiMan or PB-Maxx to help you out!

Welcome to AVS's DIY Screen Forum!

I suggest RS-MaxxMudd LL for your 155"er

It can be applied to the Drywall directly if some pains are taken to assure a smooth, unblemished surface on the wall. When you move out, you simply roll on the original wall color.

Otherwise, if you want a lightweight Screen that can hang up onto a raised Fame "coming up out of a custom built entertainment center", then PM me for a link to a source of good, affordable material you can stretch across a frame and paint onto. It's a commercial "DIY Screen" venture so it's not appropriate to post a link on this DIY Forum.

Sorry to hijack but my question is very similar. Same projector (Benq w1070) being bought in a week or two, and will be rolling a painted screen onto a sanded and very nice drywall surface.

This projector's pretty bright and the screen with be in the 110"-120" range, with a throw just over 10 feet. Fairly light controlled basement but there will be some daytime viewing or "social" viewing during football games or other activities where people will want to move around. Ambient light close to the screen can still be controlled mostly.

I already have a quart of SW Unique Gray (8.5) but am thinking of maxxmudd-LL instead. Would it be worth it, with such a bright projector and a good amount of light control?

yes. because what you might not gather is... that rs-maxxmdd ll... is actually lighter in color than SW 8.5... and therefore will have less of the 'greyscreen' caveats of SW 8.5.

in addition, it's the increased of LL that will give you the mild ambient light capabilites you seek when friends jion the party with a beverage of choice in hand.wink.gif
