Just put in 9434 in the search. I actually just got it a few minutes ago & its perfect for this will post pics tonight after I stretch it over the mylar frame. I am a little worried it may be to thin & wont hide the seem & the imperfections in the mylar. If it doesn't guess I will have to downgrade to a smaller screen. Wish me luck.

Sorry I keep posting didnt mean to hit reply so soon. This is the wall of windows right next to the screen . I have 10 diffusing samples to chose from so thats my next step in this project.Does an anti-glare fil help a lot cause im affraid to add any more layers in fear it will dillute the blackness.

Hello,

First of all i think you guys are doing a great job in making and testing all the different options for a black screen. Some of the results are looking amazing.

Let me give a short introduction. I live in holland and i'm thinking about buying a projector the only thing that is holding me back is the quality in light condition.

This seems to almost go away with a black screen :). So i want to make my own for a resanable price offcourse. I dont have a projector yet but did researce and i think i want this one; http://www.amazon.com/Optoma-HD131Xe-1080p-Theater-Projector/dp/B00E4JEDWE   Because of the low noise, price, and (high) lumens.

I want to project in my living room wich has the kitchen connected to it, so i cant get it dark during the day. The room is 5meters wide and 6meter long enough size for a big screen.

From holland i think i can order from the german site. Can you advise me on what to buy, what test results so far makes the best image (for my conditions) and is also not to diffucult to make.

Thanks in advance,

Raymond

Hello,

First let me say i think you guys are doing an awesome job in making and testing all the different options for a black screen, some results look amazing.

Let me give a short introduction, I live in the Netherlands and are thinking about switching my hdtv for a projector. The only thing that is holding my back is the quality in light condition.

This problem seems to almost go away with a black screen :) So i want to make my own.  I want to project in my living room wich has the kitchen connected to it so i cant get it dark during the day.

My room is 5 meters wide and 6 meters long, 3.2meters high, enough space for a big screen.

I dont have a projector yet, dit researce and i think i want the optoma hd131xe because of the low noise, price and (high) lumens.

Can you advise me on what to buy to make the screen, what test results so far made the best image for my situation and is not to hard to make. From holland i think i can order from the german site.

Thanks in advance

Raymond

Excellent work here Lets say I wanted to get the best results possible in a dimly lit room (bias lighting around the room to improve perceived projector black level) as cost effectively as possible.
Would all of the steps shown here be necessary (reflective, black layer, diffuser) or would I be able to get away with 2 of 3 and minimize wash out in a dim room?
Or is a black screen even a good idea for a dimly lit room?

The screen above seems fairly small, and ambient light performance is only average.

Perhaps more information on size, PJ used, and throw distance, as well as larger photos might up it's value.
