I am getting ready to build a 130" AT screen using the milliskin spandex material. I have been reading lot of posts discussing the various combination of White over Light Silver/gray Matte Milliskin screens or vice versa with different results. It does seems like a good solution for the AT screens on a budget.
I didn't find anyone using a combination of matte and shiny milliskin layers and I was wondering would it improve the results if I use the white matte milliskin on top and a gray shiny millskin under it. Would it improve the results or if anyone has tried that already..

You have a answer in your PM box to your PM'd request. Proceed accordingly, and re-post it if you like.

Any standard Light Gray Milliskin will suffice. For those who desire a maximum increase in Contrast off a White top layer of Milliskin, you can use either a Black or Dark Gray Milliskin as the bottom layer.

That is pretty much what I did when making my screen. I used dark gray under white. I used spandex from local JoAnnes and I am very happy with my screen.

Mitsubishi 3800 projector onto 103 inch DIY AT screen. Marantz 8802A Sound ably handled with DIY LCR speakers. Surrounds are Paradigm in wall speakers. Overhead speakers for Atmos and DTS:X are minimus 7. DIY IB sub system. Two pairs of Dayton 15 inch in separate manifolds. Power amps are Harman Kardon Signature 2.1 doing basic 5 bed channels. Kenwood KM-X1 6 channel for L/R wide and four overhead speakers. Kenwood Basic M1D doing Subwoofer work.

I must be guilty because people say I am guilty because they chose to call me guilty because they refuse to see the truth. Much easier to be part of the mob..

People have talked about the shiny silver but I haven't seen any postings of results. The shiny silver might cause issues with the image or might be useful to increase the gain. Until someone tries it and posts about the results we won't know for sure. If you don't want to experiment, this should work http://spandexworld.com/c3/catalog/product/6201

I know.....

Anything truly "shiny" behind a translucent material such as Spandex risks imparting a glare....or hot spot.
