Am I reading Projection Central's Pro Calc correctly???

I just want to make sure I am reading this correctly before I begin making the screen. I want as large as I can go and still leave room for left/right center speakers on a 15' wall 9' high. Going to build a soffit at about 12" so losing a foot there.

JVC DLA-X55R
15'7"
2.39:1
1.2 Screen gain
140" diag
21fL

Can I go with a 1.0 or 1.1 gain and still be bright enough even for 3D? We will not watch a lot of 3D but may throw some in once in awhile.

Thanks,
James

My figures match up with yours......

And a 1.1 gain surface would still be fine. (19 fl)

So that would be fine for 3D viewing as well MM? What DIY screen would you recommend for 1.1 or 1.2.gain? Still the one you recommended in the other thread? Thanks buddy

You recommend this over the flexi with SFv2? I was kind of wanting to build a frame and float it so I can add backlighting for looks

Well...the X55 doesn't need nearly the assist "contrast-wise" as most other PJs, owning to the Panel-Masking technology the JVC DLA possesses. That is not to say that Silver Fire would not be an advantage, I was only suggesting that RS-MM LL would provide the most gain while still offering up the same basic advantage, albeit at a lower level....and with it being a somewhat easier approach.

And when taking into account 3D viewing, gain is king.

One thing of note: The newer Silver Fire v2.5 that uses the Martha Stewart Polished Silver (...almost impossible to find now...) or the Rustoleum Sterling Silver http://www.amazon.com/Rust-Oleum-Met.../dp/B003EELMY2
...........both produce a somewhat darker Reflective Base that before, and I have found that in cases of lower, controlled ambient light, very little if any SF Colorant is needed.

If no Colorant is added, this make SF v2.5 virtually the same as RS-MM-Retro, with both high gain and Silver/Pearl/Poly enhancement.

Both apps have the same basic Roots...they be Brothers.

(....never said nuthin' about ditchin' the Flexi though... )
