Screen decision help

Hi everyone. I am in the process of redoing my home theater setup and could use some help with my screen decision. I had a planar 7130, 6 years old that died so I just purchased a Benq W1070. I had been projecting the planar onto a gray painted wall and have always been happy enough with the picture, I am not particularly fussy. I will use the projector to watch football games and movies, and the kids will play lots of video games on it.

However, I am now moving the projector to another room and will have to hang a screen from the ceiling, which isn't an issue. Now I am trying to figure out if I should go with a wilsonart/pvc screen, or a spandex screen. I am leaning towards the spandex, it will be less expensive and allow me to put the center channel behind it, but I am a bit concerned about the brightness of the projector on the screen. It will be easy enough to darken the room if I want, but watching football games and playing video games usually need some light, so you don't spill your beer. The screen will be 5'x9' and I do have flexibility about the placement of the projector.

So any thoughts or advise?

Thanks!

Go with white Milliskin over Light Silver Milliskin Spandex. At the size and the available "mid" Throw distance you will have ample lumen available and quite satisfactory Foot Lambert brightness off the screen.

Watching Movies in the dark you can....if desired....simply switch to Low lamp mode to achieve the darkest possible Blacks.

Would you recommend the miliskin over the Flexiwhite or Flexigray from Carls? Even if AT wasn't an issue?

Thanks!

absolutely not! I would always recommend an opaque material or solid substrate over acoustically transparent material if the acoustic properties were no longer a consideration. The Flexi Gray is a good choice if one has a low contrast PJ with adequate lumen output and the protector can be effectively calibrated to compensate for such a surface. However starting out with Flex White one can be assured of a bright, image even on low lamp, and if a contrast boosting is required , the FW it is easily treatable with one of several different high performance do it your self screen paints

okay, I can't take it anymore. This is totally off topic, so I'll be quick. What does PJ stand for?

I've searched high and low, and my best guess from context clues is Projector, or "Poor Judgment" but I don't know for sure.
