This is the clincher for me.
$299.00....Bah!

Before I release any information I must do monster, toy and fish testing. Be careful what you ask for...I'm not merely slopping paint this time.

I was happy with Deluxe ME. Now I'm even happier with Super Deluxe ME. Rather than waiting for the Super, Duper, Deluxe ME can you please post the formula. I'm heading to HD this evening and would like to avoid a trip back.

You've whetted our appetite already. Now PLEASE post the formula.

I repeat, this is not a simple "slop the paint" formulation. Please hold your horses. Even Mr "Wet Sanding" may be troubled with this. Thanks, CMRA

Fair enough. The base is a sheet of plexiglass. However, I believe a pane of the real thing will do just as well. SO...if you must get going to HD price out the biggest sheet of plexiglass you can find, 1/8 inch, and post for everybody. (1/4 inch may work also, BUT, I have NOT tested it)

If I were to guess, I would say that CMRA is using the plexi to achieve some layering of silver metallic. Possibly SM thinned with glaze or base on one side and transluscent coat of ME or matte finish on the other. The ME behind the SM plexi layer helps with the contrast, while the SM layer pumps up the gain.
More akin to ddog than ME+ as there is layering as opposed to the mixed one coat solution. However, I would venture to say that the SM is layered on top (being the plexi is in front of the ME) as opposed to the undercoat. I would think that in this way, the SM particles can more readily reflect the light projected.

We will need to await CMRA's revelation to get the true formula.

This time, I have learned my lesson. I'm going to take some time out and type the receipe ONE TIME and store it for posting. This is much more in depth than before 'a la' MissMan's venue. (but, no sanding required)

I'm posting these advance photos so members can get a first hand look at "Super Deluxe".

Pexi-Glass?

Obviously your fudging om the Wet sand technique to obtain the perfectly smooth finish I've stated time and again as an important aspect to screen design.

That's OK, but the expense and availability makes me wonder if your grasping at an application that precludes many following in your footsteps. That's OK too, because your better off being eccentric.

But hold on................I've got 228 additional screen shot of three different combos.

I think you will all be surprised.

No silver here, no plexi-glass, just a wall, some paint, and a humble X1

Still have to finish some work, then it's computer time. Look for SSs on this thread, Scoobs thread (Silver & ME+) and Fish Leftovers.

A taste of X1 sushi

Focus is as good as it gets with a 110" screen! (I had the whole wall....?)

Plexiglass??? Where are you sposed to get a 80+ inch wide sheet of plexiglass and how much would it cost??!

I'll take this oppurtunity to remind y'all of something called the DDog formula. Remember that? It's an alternative that should be considered. Yes it's difficult to roll but not impossible and if you can spray it's easy. And I have yet to see a side-by-side comparison that beats the results.

Yep, I have a real challenge ahead of me. I can get 3'x6' easy enough, but that won't fly for most AVSers. Keep a lookout for us, dpadair!

Interesting proposition, CMRA!

I had some leftover plexiglass after making my 20$ projector mount a few weeks ago, and I threw some ME on it back then and held the backside against my ME wall...didn't help, tried projecting through the clear front of the glass onto the ME...didn't help.

I didn't think about painting the backside silver though...that's a great idea!

Thanks for sharing your experiments with everyone.

If this works well, it looks like 4x8' sheets of plexiglass aren't too hard to come by... although they're not cheap--from researching the net it seems ~$100 for 4x8' 1/8" and ~$200 for 1/4" is reasonable. Not sure if HD or Lowes carries that big of a sheet. May have to call your local glass co.
