the easiest is to just paint a piece of tileboard (the thinner sheets are with the paneling at HD as opposed the hardboard- thinner is better) and screw a 1x4 frame onto the sides in the bak and just hang it on lag screws in the wall or from the ceiling with wires using hooks screwed into the top of the frame.

total cost with tax: 1 tileboard (1/8") = $7, i qt Behr Silverscreen = $10, 3 1x4x8 #1 = $19, two hooks = $1 1 throwaway smooth roller and pan $2

= $39 for 96" diagonal at 16 x 9

if you have some flat black paint around, you can paint a 5" strip on each side to focus on the 16 x 9 part

cjv123, Thank you very much.

I already have BO cloth....can I use BO cloth instead of Tileboard. And use the silverscreen paint on it.

Thanks in advance.

You may want to take thgis discussion over to the Behr SS thread since it's not really related to mission313's approaches to this point.

Just trying to keep his thread on-topic....no offense intended.

I am currently in the process of completing my home theatre room, my projector is a panasonic AE700.

After thoroughly browsing through these posts and have come to the following conclusion about when I should do.

A. Either use the SM/MM mix (I would have to hire someone since i've never painted a day in my life)

B. Paint the wall with Behr UPW flat latex.

I see no compeling evidence or pictures that suggest otherwise!
Any thoughts or critisicms of my conclusion?

You'll probably get a better response posting a separate thread or as a follow-up to one of your previous threads. :)

Of the two mentioned "Wall" applications, a correctly done SM/MM wall screen will deliver the best results.

MMan,

I have no problem presuming a correctly done SM/MM screen would deliver better results than an UPW screen. However, I and many other AVS'ers have not made such a comparison.

Since your post seems to indicate you've compared SM/MM and UPW, would not posting the same screen shot from an UPW screen provide AVS'ers a valuable comparison?

Or, do you believe there would not be any discernable difference due to you not being able to capture this difference with screen shots?

And, if you could not capture any such differences, would you then not agree your screen shot does not accurately represent the results one could obtain with a correctly done SM/MM screen?

Or, would AVS'ers be better off left presuming your screen shot represents the results one could obtain with a correctly done SM/MM screen, and that those results are superior to what one could obtain from an UPW screen?

Thank you for your time and expertise.

1 Time,

The questions above have been both asked of by you on two other threads this AM and answered by me as well on both, although you might have posted them here first. I cannot be sure when the same thing is posted more than once on seperate threads.

Let's not be redundant here, shall we not?

Did anyone try this formula? What type of results did you get? Any screen shots you can share?

Thx

I don't think any one but myself has tried a sprayed version, but general concensus was that it was to hard to apply as a rolled on solution. I actually ended up with a mixed solution in the end the thread is around here somewhere, but again much better results with spraying. If its your first screen try Kilz 2 or UPW as a reference then see what things you need more contrast, gain, size, uniformity, etc. It will cost you $9 and gives you agood start you may find you don't need any more. Then visit the various more "experimental" solutions. I recomend a Kilz2 then if you need more gain you could try the 313mix top coat. If you need more contrast try ME or SS of course at the cost of gain. I don't think anyone has come up with a failsafe contrast and gain improved DIY solution yet. Not that some of us haven't tried exhaustively.

P.S. I only pop in occasionally these days too much drama crap as of late.
