I am using a 110" diagonal BO cloth screen currently. I have linacoustic around and behind the screen and it deadens the sound quite a bit. I was thinking of going to a 2.35 screen and this would be 2 feet wider, in essence covering most of my wall. I was thinking about going to a gatorboard or similar rigid board for ease of set-up, but then it occured to me how reflective this would be. Putting acoustic material around the screen wouldn't amount to much, and unlike blackout cloth, I suspect rigid materials would negate any acoustic treatments behind the screen.

Has anyone that has gone to a MDF, gatorboard, etc. come up with any conclusions regarding the negative impact on acoustics? Thanks.

JM
