ha! he could have put it on amazon for $100! . Lucky you though.

the Pioneer 610av worked beautifully with both my dvd-audio and SACD's via hdmi! With the modified firmware I can now play SACD-R's as well.

I started a seperate thread for this but the only issue I have left is my receiver won't let me play just music from anything without the display (projector) on..as soon as I turn it off the receiver stops playing audio as well .

that's weird. I assume the receiver is connected via-HDMI to your display (projector)? If so this is probably the cause-ie. HDMI hand-shake or HDCP issues.

No doubt an HDMI issue. I bought an inexpensive 9" monitor that I use for playing DVD-As and SACDs and streaming flacs from my Oppo so I don't have to burn up my DLP bulb.

I did consider going that route as well...

I have to ask this before I start looking for my redbook version of Thriller, are some of the song mixed differently on this SACD? I finally got it in "loosely" put Hi Rez and this is the best I've heard this album..I'm hearing things I don't ever recall hearing..Also I have the AVR doing DPII MUSIC, and I gotta say I don't need this to be MCH at all, pretty sweet.

There's a copy of MJ SACD right now on Amazon for a great price, I paid way more but I think it's worth every single cent I spent.

Hey Dan,

You might have paid more the $80.00 for your copy of Thriller but I'm sure it came with a jewel case and artwork. The one for $80.00 is just the disc and rated as acceptable.

Bill

My SACD collection, watch it grow and my wallet shrink ;-).

Denon 4311 (in preamp mode), Parasound 2100, Boston Acoustics A7200 amp, Oppo BDP-103, Consonance CD120, Panasonic TC-P60GT50 plasma, Panamax 5100EX, Salk Song Towers, Song Center, ADS 300C (surrounds) and two Rythmik F12SEs.

My TV does this, you have to go into the receiver and change HDMI MONITOR to OFF.

My DV-48 Pioneer Elite SACD/DVD-A is hooked up via HDMI to my Onkyo TX-SR805. I always go in and set it to OFF when listening to this player, then back on when moving to Blu-ray or other video source.

Brand new sealed copy of "Thriller" sold today on eBay for $164.50

Just recently a used "Like New" copy for over $200.00

MJ "Thriller" SACD is almost like watching the stock market.

Those prices are crazy... you can see why some turn to piracy.

and get a faction of the quality? They aren't in it for what we are, and they'll never be.

piracy and quality wouldn't fit in the same sentence ever.

In reality those prices aren't that crazy as this is what the MJ "Thriller"SACD is actually selling for.

What is crazy are the prices being asked by some Amazon Marketplace sellers.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listi...condition=used

Check out lasvegas7 asking price!!!

I have tried to figure out how somebody could ask so much for this title and these are my best guesses.

1) Pure Greed

2) A disillusionment that their copy is the only one left on the planet or is somehow special from all the rest.

3) Planning on selling to a lottery/casino winner who wants to start a brand new SACD library and money is no object.

4) It only happens in Vegas.

5) All of the above.

Why would you get a fraction of the quality? It is fairly simple to get a bitperfect rip. This is 2012.

I'm talking about piracy! I don't know where you live but there is this culture of down loading music without much regard to quality, as there people that sell cd in god know what format.and some people are OK with that as long as it's at certain price point 'CHEAP',
I work closely with to a group of youth in MY Company's mail room, and they just don't care about quality only cost.

and yes I'm aware you can download, rip bit perfect after all it's 20-12 Sadly most people are happy with MP3.

If you like MJ, I would suggest "This is It" on Bluray DVD. The production rehearsals are excellent and the 5.1 mix on DTS-MA is stunning. The cost of this BD is way cheaper than a Thriller SACD. I also listen to SACD's regularly and this BD stands right up there sonically.
After watching and hearing it, I'm here to tell ya if MJ had a chance to complete his tour before he died the concert videos would be selling millions. He was def the the king of pop and production value of this BD DVD showcases his talent.

Agreed! This guy knows what he is talking about. This Is It in blu-ray is a much better sonic experience than "Thriller" in SACD.

The reason is number 5, all the above. This is why I won't buy Avatar in 3D. I gotta admit though there is a sucker born every minute.

I agree as well. I was never much of an MJ fan, but saw This is It on Palladium and decided to take the plunge. This BR is KILLER! Awesome sound and you could tell that the concert would have been amazing. Not only is the sound incredible, but watching MJ do his moves shows me he was an incredible dancer as well as singer/song-writer. I could just see that this man definitely "had the music in him."

I was turned on to quite a few songs of his on this BR. I have always had an aversion to "pop," but this made me feel that I had missed out on quite a bit by never looking into MJ. King of Pop indeed. This BR made a fan out of me- admittedly late, but better than never.
