I'm just getting into multi-channel and I'm wondering what the best places are to purchase DVD-Audio, SACD, and Blu-Ray audio. I'm familiar with Music Direct and Acoustic Sounds but what are some other good, reliable outlets for multichannel discs? I checked out amazon but it was a little difficult to maneuver their site to find multichannel stuff.

Try elusivedisc.com....there's a wide variety, but some of them are expensive. Since you live in L.A., have you tried Amoeba Music in Hollywood. I've found a lot of SACD, used but real cheap there....happy hunting

Yes but not specifically for SACD. Is there a separate section for SACD/DVD-A?

I bought almost my entire collection of SACDs, DVD-A, etc. from eBay.

No separate section, you have to browse through the bins. Now that I think of it, there is a SACD/DVDA bin by the jazz section. It's kind of hidden though, but it's there.

Sorry for dredging up this old thread, but I'm having much the same question as the OP, except for buying music online. I've found that it's bordering on impossible to find multichannel music in its own category in any store or search engine. Has anybody here got any good tips on finding multichannel music online?

It seems most of the music here is available in multichannel
https://shop.klicktrack.com/2l

But that's all I've got for now.

Hey Joe,

I usually search Amazon by sacd, dts, dvd-audio or dvd-a. I usually get lots of hits, although it takes some time to sift through the garbage titles. I would also recommend checking:

http://www.quadraphonicquad.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?45-Surround-Music-Polls

And www.sa-cd.net for more ideas on titles you may be interested in. It takes quite a bit of research, but you'll eventually get a handle on what to look for.

By the way, you're from head-fi, right?

Not much can be found on Amazon these days, unless it's 3rd party and often very expensive.

Burningshed.com has a few surround recent releases. CDJapan.com has a few too but they can get expensive.

Also I've managed to find some bargain bin specials in a couple of stores (6 x Genesis SACD/DVD-A titles that I assume came from broken up box set released in 2007-08).

There's also a bit of seventies Quad converted to 94/24 DVD-A floating around on the internet.

Ebay. Stuff comes up pretty regularly. Just search, search and search again. One week nothing. Two weeks later and there are many.

Have to disagree about your comments regarding Amazon. At least the US site has plenty of stuff...and yeah lots of used sales too. I typically buy used when I can. Oh and don't forget dual discs. Some of them sound great.

I suggest looking at sacd.net to find titles that look good to you, then search for those discs on Amazon, but buy from a seller, not Amazon itself, as their prices are usually far higher than individual sellers.

DALI Epicon 2 front speakers; DALI Epicon Vokal center speaker; Definitive Technology ProMonitor 1000 surrounds; SVS SB 13 Ultra subwoofer; Marantz AV 8801 pre/pro; Parasound Halo A51 power amp; Esoteric K-03 SACD player; Oppo BDP 105 SACD/Blu-ray player; Sennheiser HD 800 headphones; Woo Audio WA6 headphone amp.

No doubt the best place is on E-bay by far. There are many music stores that will give you just about anything your looking for in dvd audio DTS or sacd.
