Hi all.

I am just beginning to delve into the world of surround sound and now that I have my DVD player setup nicely with DD, I am trying to setup the PC for optimal listening.

I watch quite a lot of divx movies and also live streaming via BBC and skygo.

The receiver is an Onkyo NR414 connected to my PC via HDMI. I can get DD via the onboard DVD player.

My main question is, is it best to configure the PC to output Stereo or 5.1 channels? With 5.1 output I can only use the Direct settings on the receiver whereas with stereo output I can then use the PL II settings. Is this better?

Many thanks
