Thanks for the head up OP.

Well -- it works fine in the PS3 fatty. But I was a bit disappointed to see that it is all 2.0 channel recordings. I know I should have read the product description better .. but the disk is great for two-channel music.

Ordered by Grrr on Amazon US.

If all the High Fidelity Pure Audio releases from Universal are region free,
then I just might get all from France:

They are looking to release these in the US this fall, if you can wait.

Definitely worth the wait then, the huge American market will drive prices down quickly.

Grrr in da house!

I was tired so i left the A1UDCI on the 7.1 analog out via the PR-SC5509
and enjoyed the first 7 songs that way, still Stereo but single ended,
#6 what a hoot!

Then I smacked myself realizing what I had done. A click on the Harmony
and the processor is off balanced audio injected into the CP-700. Ruby
Tuesday I never thought it could sound so good!

The poorly mixed tracks are very few, 50 tracks!!!!

Hail to BD PCM 24-bit/96kHz in this case.

Oppo 105 owners should invest in a balanced stereo
preamp and interconns just to see what they can get
out of recordings like this one, Audiogon Forums good
place to start. I wish they segregated the "Receivers,
Amps, and Processors" forum a bit to separate audiophile
gear from the receivers and elevate the standards a bit.

Addendum: listening to Brown Sugar, oh the mastery, mixing
the colors:)

Great, superb disc, I will buy more just for friends' Christmas presents.

I was born in the 70ies, so these songs are engraved in my brain
as dad kept spinning the LPs almost every evening since I can remember myself.

IIRC, Grr is a Euro only release. Check Amazon UK, though sellers like Music Direct and the like are selling them. Also check ImportCD's. All the HFPA discs are Euro first as of now. There was a exclusive deal with Amazon France (if I'm wrong about the seller someone please correct this) before general release but that should have expired by now. They had announced a few months ago the HFPA's would be released in the US directly but I'm not even sure that has happened yet. The US rollout, like just about everything else about these things has been a mess.

I bought this disc in September 2013 from Amazon UK for £9.12 (currently it's £13.52). But I have see it available for as little as £6.00 on some UK web sites...

Amazon UK has surprisingly good international shipping rates. I ended up paying less than $20 total for this disc, IIRC.

Yeah, and the stuff gets here in a bout a week. I got Grr for about 20 bucks as well.

They should all sound the same or just about the same, there shouldn't be a big drop off audio wise going from PCM to Dolby True. It may be a disc fault. When this disc first came out there were complaints about switching from one format to the other. Some disc players did it with no problem some had fits. As long as PCM and DTS play fine I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for the reply. It sounds fine with the first 2 audio settings so I won't worry too much

Anyone having trouble when switching audio with the Grrr! HFPA? Below is a post from another thread.

I finally had a chance to listen to a stereo HFPA disc. I'm having the same issue as you only worse. When I switch audio it does go to PLIIx for both DTS and TrueHD. But I can get it to stereo by toggling the stereo/direct button. The issue I'm having is that when I switched audio modes through my Oppo 103 I lost audio several times. I powered off the 103 and still no audio with the HFPA disc (Stones Grrrr!). I had to change inputs on my Denon 4311 to get audio back. I just tried switching audio and I lost audio again. It took a number of input changes with the 4311 and powering off the 103 to get audio back.

This is crazy! I firmly believe it is an issue with this particular HFPA disc. I have a number of other Blu-ray audio discs and I've had no issues like this when switching audio modes with the 103. I might email Oppo to see if other 103/105 owners have reported the same issue. I'm going to post this on the forum as well. maybe someone else will post with similar issues.

Edit: I just read the first page of this thread and others were having this issue. Duh! I changed HDMI Audio to LPCM from Bitstream. Once I did that I was able to switch audio modes with the 103 without losing audio. I prefer Bitstream so the audio codec shows on the display of the 4311.

My SACD collection, watch it grow and my wallet shrink ;-).

Clean out the Persistent Storage and shut off Deep Color and BD-Live on the Oppo. Bitstream should work then.

tt,

Thanks, I'll give that a shot . I have Deep Color and BD-Live off already. So I'll try clearing the Persistent Storage and see what happens.

Bit-stream switching is working okay for me.

As a cross-check I used the 'Audio' button on the remote to directly select the audio stream type. And I used the discs 'Pure Audio Format' menu options

Cheers

Bill, don't know if you've been following along with my trials and tribulations on the Oppo 103 thread about the HFPA playback issues. I discovered 4 of my 13 HFPAs have problems. This morning I moved my Samsung 5700 BD player into the HT rig in place of the Oppo temporarily. The discs still performed poorly so I've ruled out the 103 as being the bad guy in all of this. It's down to a disc/cabling/AVR issue for. My AVR reads other HFPAs just fine on the current settings so... Oppo has asked if I could send them a disc(s) so I'm considering their request. Nice of them actually, since this doesn't appear to be an Oppo issue. Anyway, that's the latest on my end....
