Hi, I have an A/V receiver that can decode Dolby Digital from my cable company's set-top decoder.
Different icons or symbols light up on my JVC amp to indicate how many channels the Dolby signal contains (i.e. on a 2.0 channel, only the symbols for the two front R/L speakers light up on the amp).
Yesterday while channel flipping, I saw a new symbol light up that I had never seen before - it was a small red letter "S" between the two rear channel speaker symbols.
This only occurred on one channel I found. I'm thinking it *might* mean SAP or something.

I cannot find any information about it's meaning on the internet or in the amplifier's manual.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks.

I have no idea, but just out of curiosity (killed that cat, yeah yeah), which JVC receiver do you have? Maybe someone else with that model can help you out (check the Amps, Receivers, Processors forum).

My opinions are my own, and do not necessarily reflect those of my captors.

From a JVC user manual:

“S” is the monaural rear signal. It is automatically mixed down to “LS” and “RS.”
