A couple of years ago, reissued "Aqualung" with Steven Wilson remix. What else have you worked with him?

He was also responsible for the remix of "Thick As A Brick" original and the sequel mixed.
Last year we were doing the remixes "Benefit", "A Passion Play" and tapes "Chateau d'Isaster",
the original recordings of that album we did not finish in 1973, never completed.
We intend to launch these reissues this year, with remixes in 5.1. It was fun to review that material.

This is great news, thanks for posting! "A Passion Play" in 5.1 by SW has been on my wish list for sure, but I'll probably purchase the other 2 as well. Hopefully more 5.1 music will appear this year...fingers crossed...smile.gif

Hopefully they'll keep Peter Mew away from these remixes so they won't have to fix them like they did for TAAB.

If a movie or concert video or a TV show isn't on blu ray it darn well should be.

I sure hope the re-release Aqualung without all of the "extras", so I can afford to finally purchase it. I'm also stoked about Benefit. One of my all time favorite Tull albums.

Awesome news!! PP has always been on of my favorites.

BTW - I just Sony Columbia a message asking them to release Super Session. If you feel likewise - more voices would sure help.

A bit off topic to this thread, but a great idea. Al Kooper said the surround mixes were done already but Columbia was sitting on it. Where did you send the email to?

Go to this URL - http://hub.sonymusic.com/about/feedback.php

For the Subject drop-down - I used the Columbia Records choice.

I've decided to revive this particular thread because of some good news: MusicTAP has confirmed that A Passion Play will be released in 5.1 surround sound, though so far it's only set for release in the UK on June 16th. It's scheduled to be a four-disc set with two DVDs featuring the surround material, as well as 96/24 stereo tracks, and it will have the Chateau D'Herouville sessions, also in surround and 96/24.

Looks like the definitive version.

Great news! This will be the most awaited release this year, for me. There is some amazing sax played by Ian Anderson on PP. I can't wait to hear how Steven Wilson has mastered this in surround. It is too bad that yet another Tull classic will be released in lossy DTS 5.1 surround instead of Blu-Ray audio (like Aqualung was). Both TAAB and PP deserve to be released as High Fidelity Pure Audio (Blu Ray audio).

This is the way A Passion Play was meant to be heard! THANK YOU, STEVEN WILSON! A brilliant, complex and underrated (by some) album that he has opened out masterfully in surround sound. In addition to the usual instrumentation that surprises because it is no longer buried in the mix, there is the inclusion of around 1 minute of previously spliced-out music at the start of the incomparable side 2! Anderson's wonderful soprano sax, thankfully, also remains in the mix. The booklet is better and more informative than the one that accompanied TAAB. I only miss the original playbill insert for the Hare's Spectacles interlude that was a part of the original LP. I also haven't figured out how to watch the video clips of the Hare and other included film footage - the menu doesn't appear to list this option, or listened to the Chateau sessions as yet. But that will be pure icing for this cake.

Correction: The original playbill is reproduced in the accompanying booklet. Still can't find the video footage, though.

LOL

I always think of a guy I used to work with when I hear PP. One day for some bizarre reason I said Hare were hopping mad at this sort of talk in the proper inflection. I didn't know this guy was an insane Tull freak. He proceeded to sing the entire PP, followed by Thick As A Brick and the entire Tull catalog. I know Tull pretty well up to War Child and he was spot on.

The only problem was he sang Tull for 3 straight days till my ears started bleeding. I probably didn't listen to Tull for 6 years after that.
