The amazon pre-order for the album in 5.1 is down to $18.49:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JPUUPLA/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Listing still says Live in London, but it also says HFPA. The other Live in London blu-ray lists all the songs as being from Wembley stadium. So, I'm 99% sure this is the album. Even if it turns out not to be (or the info about the whole album being in 5.1 is wrong) you can always return it easily enough.

I finally pulled the trigger on getting this, as well. I'm sure it'll be good. I mean, it's The Who, right?

Of course the music is great but whether or not the new BD can spruce up what is on the tapes in another matter.
I have the SHM-SACD of Quadrophenia and it does better the CD but not hugely.
I have the SHM-SACD of Who's Next and I cannot tell a difference between that and the CD Steve Hoffman remastered.

The info on The Who's facebook page states the entire album is in 5.1. Looks like it time to order. Figures it's delayed. rolleyes.gif Early reports from people who have the deluxe set have generally been extremely positive about the surround mix. smile.gif

Here's a pic of the menu. Thanks to fredblue over at QQ forum for this.

I saw the box set at a record store today and the info on the back stated the entire album has been done in 5.1. Thanks to the record companies for letting us know in advance.

I couldn't wait any longer and bit, regardless of the confusion surrounding the studio release. Ordered from Rarewaves-Imports in the UK via Amazon some days ago, and they've indicated that the Blu-Ray is in the mail. If it is anything like the remixed Tommy then it will be worth my gamble. This is huge for me, up there with Passion Play in expectation and desire.

Please report back after you listen. I love the surround mix on Tommy and if this is on the same level, I am in.

It is terrific! 5.1 all around and the best audio version that I have heard. It even lacks the new Tommy's idiosyncratic placement of Keith Moon's drums! Nice b&w video stills slideshow that accompanies the music as well. No need to worry about TV/monitor burn out.

It's awesome. Surprisingly, The Dirty Jobs is the highlight of the 5.1 mix.

If anyone gets the AXS channel, they're showing the 2013 concert tonight (6/23) a couple of times. If you miss it, they usually repeat their concerts over time. Check the listings.

If you require the 'Original Studio Album' version in surround sound and you live in the UK, it can be purchased from here or here...

If you require the 'Live In London' version in surround sound and you live in the UK, it can be purchased from here...

This has been such a confusing release it seems, what's studio, what's live... And we all know that Amazon(s) descriptions of all things music (is it CD, SACD, BD-A, DVD-A, Vinyl?) just seems to add a little fuel to the fire at times. Even the cases on the studio release seem different, with Amazon.com and .ca having the blue cover, Amazon.uk having the see through HFPA case. If I'm seeing this right. Clear as mud!

Essentially... All disc's with the (black & white) scooter on the cover are the 'Original Studio Album' versions. All disc's with the red, white & blue 'eye-ball' on the cover are the 'Live In London' versions...

Pre-order at Amazon US:

http://www.amazon.com/Quadrophenia-S...phenia+blu-ray

Recommend that you also check out other sites, like Deep Discount or even Amazon UK, or waiting until after it is released by Amazon US as some of the other listed sellers may have it for less. Even with the exchange rate and shipping, it was cheaper (and faster) for me in California to get it from a listing on the Amazon UK site.

Amazon UK is no longer selling the disc directly.
In my experience, if I know I want a title I pre-order asap as the prices can go through convolutions up until release date.
Quadrophenia studio disc is now $30, I pre-ordered at $18.49.
Same with the CSNY 74 Tour set, up to $55 now from $38.

I've seen discs drop in price after release date as well but generally not too much below the lowest pre-order.

Thumbs up

Well got my copy today and I love it! the 5.1 is not gimmicky or over the top but just right. The best I've ever the album. There is a montage of stills that are great to see as the music plays.

Out of interest... Did you get the 'Original Studio Album' disc or the 'Live In London' disc?
