Listening to Nosound - Scintilla Blu-Ray Audio!!!
Great sounding music from the Ksope music family found here: http://www.kscopemusic.com/artists/nosound/
Was kind of surprised that this band has gone under the radar here as far as I can tell.
Personally I found it to be a nice addition and have picked up their other surround albums as well.

I've been enjoying the stereo CD of Mark Knopfler's Shangri-La for years, but thanks to this great thread learned there's a 5.1 DVD-A of it. Just got it yesterday, and thoroughly enjoyed the added richness in tonal colors, inner details of the mix, and the spatial presentation. Best $10 (used) I've spent in a long time.

The 5.1 SACD had certainly become a favourite of mine

Excellent 5.1 mix for sure! The picture is of the SACD as the DVD-A comes in a digipak style packaging. Did you get the SACD or the DVD-A? Either way it's the same 5.1 mix. The DVD-A is nice as it has an excellent video of the making of Shangri La. If you can try to find the Sailing to Philadelphia DVD-A as it has an outstanding 5.1 mix. I love both albums but the 5.1 mix of Sailing to Philadelphia is easily my favorite.

Roger,

Not a problem ! I have the Shangri La SACD as well as the DVD-A and always play the DVD-A when playing the 5.1 mix. You have the better version of the two IMO. Keep an eye out for the Sailing to Philadelphia DVD-A. Tough to find now but at one time it was going for $11.00 of Amazon .

This afternoon it has been Patricia Barber - Modern Cool Blu-ray 5.1 mix and I am actually enjoying it much more than anticipated! The stereo version is so amazing that it is hard to match it, however this is still quite good!

Happy anniversary to Koyaanisqatsi, which opened in NYC 34 years ago today, Sept 14,1983. I was there on business and stumbled upon the theater, and went in only because it mentioned Francis Ford Coppola on the marquee. Dumb luck .

I was mesmerized by the movie's visuals and just as much by the score. This is the score, fully re-recorded in 1998 at 96/24 5.1, and thus sounds glorious compared with the laser disc rotting in my collection.

The Riverside album (DVD Audio 5.1) was one of my surprise finds in 2016. Great music and surround mix. I previously had never heard of them.

Images & Words, one of my favorite albums of all time. I assume you have Dream Theaters S/T album on DVD-Audio? Not their best work musically but the surround mix is pretty good.

I have a love/hate relationship with DT...have every one of their studio albums and by all accounts I should be happy that they've found a strong formula. However the more they stay the same, the more I find fault with that style while other bands like Opeth show how a band can continually evolve. I think I'm bored with them -- they need a new lyricist, and a new influential member (singer) or producer to take them to new places.

I missed this when first released. What I don't understand is why a contemporary production (CD, DVD) has not been maintained in the market. Is there no demand?? Might they press another trunk full at some point?

They might, but who really knows? Problem is the record companies are trying to kill off physical media. Those of us who are apt to buy these things are a very small percentage of their overall business picture. Even on things that sell out quickly. I've very rarely seen anything get reissued, if at all.
There was a discussion over at SHF about the lack of lossless discs on the Tull reissues and it was revealed we were lucky to even get surround on DVD's.

We have to look at these things like they're one-off releases, which they seem to be as of now.
