Just found a brand-new copy of Nickel Creek's title "This Side" on SACD, what a beautiful album! Great compositions, excellent recording.

Never heard any of their stuff before.

Yes, this has amazing sound quality. This isn't my normal style of music, but this sounds like you are in the room with the band, and it's a joy to listen to.

Its amazing how many kinds of music now are appealing when you can really hear it (as opposed to the normal compressed versions with no dynamics).

Second GoodSonics opinion about Nicklecreek. I wouldn't have tried it if I hadn't heard of it on this forum. Now I own both SACD's by this group. Great sounds.

SACD library.

yeah, definitely one of the best-sounding disc's I have in my hi-rez (multi-channel) collection.

But I really like the music as well.

If you like This Side, you may also like the self titled Nickel Creek SACD.

Another "Who woulda thought this would sound so good" recommendation is Seal 1991-2004 DVD-A. I am not a Seal fan, but that SACD sounds terrific. It has high res 5.1, 2CH, Acoustic Versions, and they all sound amazing.

Don't miss the SACD "Not All Who Wander Are Lost" by Chris Thile, the mandolin player/singer of Nickel Creek. Dazzling acoustic instrumentals and great sound! The third NC CD "Why Does the Fire Die" is not in SACD and is musically not up to the first two, IMO. The band has begun and indefinite break from recording/performing together.

I prefer the first disc. The self titled one. It's more raw & alot more bluegrassy type stuff.

I'll have to look out for, both, the debut "Nickel Creek" as well as the Chris Thile SACD titles.
