PS - Anyone looking to purchase this, for some reason it's considerably cheaper through Amazon.ca vs .com (as of this morning). $18.50 CDN from .ca, $29.95 US via .com for the blu-ray stand alone. There is also a super box set for $79.95 at either Amazon.

Lucked out and found Natalie Merchant Tigerlily DVD-A at Goodwill for $19.99 shipped. A good deal, I think.

Ace,

I will certainly post my impressions of the Like Someone In Love SACD once I have a chance to listen to it. I haven't been buying much music lately but this SACD looks interesting. I'm a fan of Stan Getz and he plays on a few tracks so that made the decision easier .

Bill, I seem to recall reading that you have most, if not all, of the Nat King Cole SACDs, most of which are highly regarded. Always loved his voice and I'd like to purchase my first NKC in multi-channel SACD. I'm leaning towards either Love Is The Thing or Where Did Everyone Go?. Any personal recommendations from your collection? Thanks...

Young Ella's voice was a rich, textured thing of beauty. Do we think the recording technology "of the day" captured it so that the technology OF TODAY conveys it in all of its richness? Ditto Nat?

Ace,

I do have all of the Nat King Cole APO SACDs and they sound excellent. The two you list are great choices so you wouldn't go wrong with either one. I really like Where Did Everyone Go? as it has a blues quality to the album. The multi-channel mixes are LCR with no surround content. I prefer to listen to all of them in 2CH over surround. I believe After Midnight is the only APO SACD that is only in mono with no surround mix.

Thanks for your comments Bill, I wasn't aware they were 3 channel. Where Did Everyone Go? was a first choice as well, and I think I'd enjoy the blues tonality that it has. It's on my list, but with new entries like TFF - Songs From The Big Chair, Bryan Adams - Reckless and the new PF- The Endless River all coming in MC blu-ray over the next month or two, I'll have to put the NKC one in the cue. Hard to keep up these days!

Ella is my "desert island, can only have one performer's collection" for music. The three APO discs recently (relatively) released all sound fantastic (to me, at any rate).

Ahhh, for me a deserted island would have leaning toward Diana Krall. I might even ask her to sing.
