Great purchase Bill. One of only two SHMs I own, the audio really seemed to improve after a few plays. Karen's voice always makes me melt. Enjoy!

It's available on HDTracks. I use them quite a bit. I usually get the FLAC version.

Thanks...I live on HDTracks, just hadn't looked for this one. Actually, your link appears to be to a different release, but interesting nonethless. Most of my download money lately has been going to Led Zep reissues

McIntosh MX121. McIntosh MC205. Focal Aria 948 Main Speakers, Aria CC900 Center. Focal Electra IC 1002 In-Ceiling Surrounds. Paradigm Studio Sub 15. Oppo BDP-105D. Roku XS. Roku 3. Apple TV(3). DirecTV. Panasonic TC-P65VT50. Samsung UN40FH6030F, URC MX-780.
My current SACD list

Steve,

The title in the link is the earlier SACD (69-81 Singles) release that isn't that well regarded especially the stereo mix. The 69-73 SHM-SACD is much better reviewed over at the SH Forum.

You are right - I hadn't bought it yet, but the dynamic range database has the HDTracks version as the most compressed. Not HDTracks' doing, the source for the download and the CD seems compromised. Thanks for the heads up:

That Dynamic Range Database website is great--some interesting results when you look closely at newly released boxsets, reissues, etc.

I have not done a comparison (nor did I know there was another Carpenters SACD), but I have the 69-81 and I think it is STUNNING!

Jeff,

Are you saying the stereo and multichannel mixes are stunning or just the multichannel mix?

Midnight Sugar [SACD]
~ Tsuyoshi Yamamoto

I just received this SACD last nite and was fortunate to have had time to listen to it fully and at volume.

The clarity of the piano is of the likes I've never heard before. I have a couple of Living Stereo piano concertos on SACD and nothing even comes close to this SACD. This comes about as close to a 'live' in your home experience as it gets.

I've noticed there are a couple of other Yamamto Tsuyoshi dics out there. Are they all as good? Assuming the disc isn't uber rare and priced accordingly.

I reject your reality and substitute my own.

While not digital hirez, I also picked up the Beatles in Mono vinyl box set after reading reviews of this being the best vinyl since the original Parlophones.............Now I gotta buy a mono cartridge.

Downloaded the latest Zep remasters on Monday but haven't listened yet due to The Series and couple other things.
Saving for Friday nite to do the comparo to the other cd versions.

Not hi-rez, but picked an old Hoffman mastered cd, 16 Greatest Hits of The Mamas & Papas.
He did wonders with these terrible recordings\tapes.
If only someone like SW etc., could remix them.

Wonderful California Pop, not sure if they're considered Sunshine Pop but still timeless songwriting, arrangements and performances, imo.

Still waiting for Drums & Wires from Importcds.
I like their prices but their shipping is excruciatingly slow and untrackable.
