Ok thanks. You're lucky to still be able to buy hi-rez in a retail store.

I don't have this one and the digi-pack is out of stock at burning shed.

The Lightbulb Sun DVD-A is available for $22.99 at Elusive Disc. If you buy from them ask for the media mail shipping option.

I wish I could tell you I buy hi rez there a lot, but alas, it's hit or miss, mostly miss. They had a few of the Rush albums on BD when they came out, but not much more. Lightbulb Sun I had noticed in their CD section.

Wow, a Floyd collector's wet dream! Personally, only these would be of interest to me. The other stuff, I'm afraid, might induce flashbacks.

Bill,

I went through all 25 pages of your SACD collection on sa-cd.net. Major impressive!!!

Since I'm a neophyte hi-res/SACD/DVD-audio guy, I was looking for ideas from your vast collection. Currently, i'm focused on multichannel music, be it hybrid SACD or DVD-audio or Blu-ray audio.

I typically do a lot of research before purchasing any hi-res audio discs to get the best mix/version at a reasonable price. So far, so good.

I only wish I had started this about 10 years ago but back then I didn't own any multichannel gear.

Al least now, I can play the above audio formats as well as Atmos and DTS:X.

Just wanted to let you know you're kind of an inspiration for me.

Thanks for the kind words ! I'd say you're going about building your hi-res collection in the best way. That is doing research on titles that interest you then checking all the known resellers for the best pricing. Consider buying used as well. I've come across some excellent deals on out of print hi-res titles over the years. I started collecting SACDs when they first came out but then got away from it for close to ten years. So I understand where you're coming from as far as wishing you started your hi-res collection many years earlier.

When I first got started a few months ago, to show you how naive I was, I went into Frys and Best Buy looking for SACDs and DVD-audio discs. Of course, that was a waste of time. Since my wake up call, I've been typically buying used discs from various online sellers. I picked up the Lalya SACD new recently from a guy on discogs for $25 + $3 shipping. Don't mean to be crass discussing pricing but it was only a few dollars more than some used ones. Otherwise, most of my purchases have been used.

I'm scratching my head trying to decide if I should get a used DVD-audio of Hotel California from TBD or a new Japanese multichannel, hybrid SACD (via my mother in law). Everything I've read says that they sound very similar.

The Hotel California multichannel mix is the same on the SACD and DVD-A. I did a direct comparison between the SACD and DVD-A with a buddy a few years ago. We couldn't tell any difference between the two multichannel mixes. So I would suggest buying the one with the best price .
