it is going to be interesting to read if the Lotus SACD set betters the 2006 3-cd set from Japan

The Doors - Waiting For The Sun APO SACD
The Doors - Strange Days APO SACD

Are these the same mixes as the titles in the Perception release?

Yes, they are the same 5.1 mixes.

"The surround sound program on the Doors SACDs comes from the original 96K, 24-bit files mixed and mastered by Bruce Botnick for the DVD Audio Doors/Perception release. Those mixes were made from the original 8-track, 15 i.p.s. analog master tapes, with the exception of The Doors, which was recorded on 4-track. For the SACDs, the mixes were then up-sampled without filters to DSD using the Weiss Saracon format converter and authored by Gus Skinas at the Super Audio Center."

Just bought:

Bob Marley - Young Mystic AF SACD

Nektar - Journey To The Centre Of The Eye 2CD/SACD 5.1 set

Unless you're a big fan of Nektar I'd pass on this one. Not a very good 5.1 mix IMO.

Hey Bill that's some great buys there.

That Young Mystic, sounds to me sublime ultra smooth, very enjoyable. I was surprised not many mentions on this one, especially that there's another Marley title on Dvd-a that sucks to high heavens.

If you get a chance to listen to it would really like to hear your thoughts.

Thanks

Dan

Hey Dan,

Thanks ! I got the Young Mystic for a great price as it's quite rare and expensive. I'll definitely post my thoughts once it arrives.

JA,

The Santana Lotus AF SACD has not been released yet. I don't have the 3 CD Japanese mini LP version. Sure wish I did but it's OOP and quite expensive. I'll be happy with the AF SACD for now .

the download is available in Surround or Stereo, Wav or Flac, 24/192 or 24/96

A limited edition, 10 LP vinyl released is planned.

This is a must own collection for EVERY music enthusiast. Classical may not be your preferred genre but the inclusion of this new release masterpiece, is essential.

Rattle brings power, clarity and definition with the Digital Concert Hall capturing every note in it's purity.
Beethoven performed to perfection, interpreted in genius and captured at the apex of recording technology.
What else can be said?
Thanks for the tip. I ordered this through Presto Classical for a bit less than Amazon and am starting to get through the bluray audio disc. I have always liked Simon Rattle's work and I am really impressed with the collection so far. I tried to download the FLAC files from the website, however, but it is really slow then fails. Is this typical of the B-P site or am I just having some bad luck? I have no issues downloading ZIP files from other sources.
Thanks

Well, managed to successfully download the 24/96 and 24/192 zip files, albeit slowly, so I guess it is their server.
Thanks to this forum I have also acquired the blu-ray audio Steve Wilson remixes of Yes Album and Fragile, waiting for CTTE and TFTO to come down in price a bit. Wow! I am rediscovering music in so many ways.

I downloaded Stereo 24/192 FLAC, it took forever..... and yes, it failed on several attempts.

It's worth the perseverance in IMHO.

In the end I believe I started the download after turning off all other internet dependent devices (to be sure the bandwidth was not lessened) like my laptops, phones, Roku sticks...... a couple hours later, it finally downloaded.

What you got back home, little sister, to play your fuzzy warbles on? I bet you got little save pitiful, portable picnic players. Come with uncle and hear all proper! Hear angel trumpets and devil trombones. You are invited.

As many know, I try very hard to not buy new/newer releases of stuff I already own but it's spins like these that test my will power.

Waiting for the Sun and The Soft Parade may be too much to resist knowing the SACD's are out there.

After ordering the Beethoven symphonies set I looked at collections of his piano sonatas and went with the Brautigam set. I was going to get the Mari Kodama series but I listened to samples of both and preferred the tone of the forte piano over the grand. I have listened to most discs so far and love the sound.

I also came across a series of the Brandenburg concertos on period instruments by I Barocchisti. Again, great clear sound on these discs. I have the CD set by Philip Pickett but there is a different interpretation with this set in some aspects, and I have been infected with the SACD/HR bug.

Yeah, I know! This is not necessarily sensible, but it is a hobby. I still have a collection of VHS tapes I never watched and DVDs I never got to and now I am buying blu-rays. Sigh The wife is questioning my sanity once again. I could draw an analogy with jewelry and handbags but that would not go well.

Well, that beats me. Although, I find TV shows are not like wine in that they do not improve with age. Music seems to stand the test of time, thankfully.
