Sorry to hijack your post.

Who started this "Exile" cult anyway? As I recall it was Rolling Stone magazine, but I forget who the writer was. You're right: the Virgin CD is a reasonable proxy for the LP. Since I have both I'm curious about the Blu-ray, twenty bucks worth...and no more. My SHM-SACDs of "Beggar's Banquet", "Let it Bleed" and "Sticky Fingers" and the ABKCO "High Tide and Green Grass" will still account for most of my Stones listening: except for "Hot Rocks" cranked up in the car. Thanks for your insights.

An early Japan SACD pressing of Miles Davis' "Kind of Blue". It's my 6th SACD version of "Kind of Blue". Don't ask.

Nice! Do you have the Kind of Blue MOFI SACD? I listened to it this morning and it sounds real nice. I won't ask as I have multiple KoB SACD versions as well .

I would love to have Yes 90125 in Hi-Res, preferably blu ray audio but if not then sacd or dvd-audio. Does anyone know if that's going to be available? I am aware of a Japanese release, but the remastering did not get good reviews.

All that's available is the SACD and as you mention it got very poor reviews. Too bad 90125 was not one of the titles that Steven Wilson did but it didn't happen.

Not Hi Rez, but a pleasant surprise! That SHM-CD I bought of "Everybody Digs Bill Evans" is so much better than the "20 bit remastered" Riverside that I have that it isn't funny.

Have no idea who started this cult. I'm a huge Stones fan but Exile is far from my fave Stones album though it does have a couple of my fave songs. Go figure. I remember when it was released it was critically maligned for being a double LP, some saw it as being excessive, and for gasp using a horn section on some songs. I don't know if its readily available but the blu ray audio version of Let it Bleed is really good, but whether or not its better than the SHM SACD I can't answer, but IMO it is better than the ABKCO SACD from 2001 or 2002. Look forward to reading your impressions on the Exile blu ray.

I own this and like it a lot. Not one of his best albums overall but solid. It's a shame that Joe only flirted the once with 5.1 as his only other SACD was just stereo. I think all his albums would be great in 5.1. It was nice that we did get 96/24 stereo versions of all studio albums though.

agreed Jim,
those Virgin CDs from the 90's are outstanding. Classic titles for a classic collectors series.

This new Chick Corea "The Musician" release should be really good. A combination BluRay/3CD set:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Interesting that HDTracks has FLAC 44.1/24 download for $43.98USD:
http://www.hdtracks.com/the-musician-live

Amazon is $37.79USD for "hard-copy" 3-disc set. I think I will order disc set

I'm very interested in how the Lotus 4.0 mix sounds. My copy is en route and will hopefully arrive soon. Did you order from cdjapan? If you did which shipping option did you choose?

Well probably not Audio Fidility's best quad release it's still enjoyable and good to have now as it's appears to be going OOP.

I reject your reality and substitute my own.

That works for the later albums JA, but then again I suspect that they were simply recorded much better, and more care was taken with the arrangements and musicianship. Even the SACDs prior to Beggar's Banquet don't shed much light to my ears. But I've never bothered to go full bore audiophile and obtain or even listen to some of those early London German pressings.

I was in the work truck yesterday and one of the local stations was playing No Time. I thought it (best of) had came out in SACD so I started looking to order it when I got home. Music Direct and Amazon and Elusive didn't have it. I bought it off e-bay...

I was about to order Jethro Tull Blu-ray audio Aqualung off E-bay until I saw the seller was from the "Russian Federation" and realized that has to be a boot-leg....

The only official Blu-ray of Aqualung that I know of comes in the box set. Is this the one from eBay? It's definitely a bootleg. Although it's "only" on DVD the new Aqualung set in book form is excellent IMO.

really slowing down on buying now...

My take on the current hi rez market is that classical is in really good shape, from improved versions of Living Stereo classics to superb new 5.0 and 5.1 DSD recordings. Popular music is still a mess. Funny how the industry blamed the slim installed base for the failure of DVD-A and SACD, but now that they have a huge installed based for BD their response is using BD to lure people into buying absurdly priced limited edition collector sets, padded out with (in my opinion) sheer junk. And all of this "limited edition" stuff only encourages the rampant speculation at the root of the ridiculous prices for OOP content.
