I know the feeling ! Nice haul! The Modern Cool Blu-ray is hard to come by. Must have been a limited release as it went OOP rather quickly.

Thanks Bill, you have the Modern Cool Blu-ray if I recall? Is it the same as the SACD?

Looking forward to hearing the Billy Joel discs!

I do have the Modern Cool Blu-ray and the MFSL SACD. The biggest difference between the two versions is the Blu-ray has a 5.1 mix. Haven't compared the two stereo mixes but when I get a chance definitely will.

The 5.1 is what I am most excited about. I also have the SACD and the stereo version is fantastic as with all Patricia Barber discs!

How do you like the 5.1 mix?

Nine Inch Nails, "The Downward Spiral"

sounds really good in multi-channel surround!
I recently began acquiring SACD discs and am up to 4:
Pink Floyd, "DSOTM"
Depeche Mode, "Playing the Angel"
The Pixies, crud, forgot the title, but it is 2 channel only.

I played the first three tracks of the Modern Cool Blu-ray 5.1 this morning. The first track Touch of Trash has an issue with the vocals being off center. The vocals are skewed towards the left slightly which is an issue that I'd forgotten about. When playing the next two tracks the vocals are centered as they should be. This is an odd 5.1 mix as the vocals are mixed into the left and right front speakers with no vocal output from the center channel. The center channel has output but it's instrumental. It's been quite awhile since I listened to this and now recall that the 5.1 mix is good but not reference quality. My initial impressions when I first heard the 5.1 mix were very positive but the closer I listened not so much.

I've owned BT - Electronic Opus Blu-Ray Audio for almost a year now and find it to be well done for it's genre. Electronic music is not something I can listen to all the time but when I do this is one of my go to albums. The album is well produced and has some very active surround on it which makes for some engaging listening. Some of my favorite Electronic Blu-Ray albums are Kraftwerk - 3-D: The Catalogue , Lichtmond 3 - Days Of Eternity, Tiesto - Elements of Life, & David Miles Huber - Parallax Eden and Gamma.
Another 6 Disc Blu-Ray Audio collection that I recently bought is : Electronic Music in Surround Sound - 'Exploration of a Dream' - 6 Disc Collection - 7.1 DTS-HD 3D Sound Blu-ray Audio available here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I still haven't even played all the disc's yet but the first couple sounded good. The price has already gone up about $10 since I purchased it about 3-4 weeks ago.

Finally had a chance to spin the Marillion Childhood's End Blu-ray in glorious MCH. Outstanding (a top ten album of the 80s for me--saw them open for Rush at the Montreal Forum when they toured this album). Will definitely go into heavy rotation (at least, when I actually have time to sit and listen to a whole album--rare times indeed these days). The full Fish catalogue of Marillion could certainly benefit from such treatment (the rest too, I presume, but I've mostly amassed the Fish-led albums). If only one of that era's titles can be given the MCH treatment, Clutching at Straws would be my request. Ah well, should get back to work, I guess.

The disc arrived today and have been playing it since and been able to sit and give it a good listen.

I am actually really enjoying the mix even though there seems to a great deal of variation in the mix style from track to track. I have listened to the 2ch version so many times that the brain gets conditioned to it and as such some of the tracks sound "foreign' due to the mix, while others sound like they were mixed the way they should have been. I will be leaving it in the player for a few days and am sure it will grow on me even more!

The album is well produced and has some very active surround on it which makes for some engaging listening.

One of the first surround discs I bought was BT: This Binary Universe in DTS 5.1. First time through, Electronic Opus is a much more enjoyable listen. The orchestral instruments and vocals make it less electronica although certainly that element is pervasive throughout the disc. Agreed that the mix is really good, discrete, and fits the music perfectly.

I'm updating my 5.1 system to a 5.1.4 system. I just ordered a Marnantz SR6011 for the AVR. I believe the Auro 3D upgrade is $200 so that probably won't be happening soon. It would be cool though to listen to this disc in that format as I see it contains a 9.1 mix.

I reject your reality and substitute my own.

I received my copy today as well and got half way through it before dinner and enjoyed the disc thus far having no exposure to BT prior to this. A agree with you on the mix and the orchestral addition really is a nice combination. Look forward to hearing the rest of it!

I play mine a lot, I found it to be very well recorded and I like the music better than Hypnotic Eye. Thought it was OOP, did you have a hard time tracking down a copy Bill?
