A quad mix from 1973 is a generation of analog tape past the analog multichannel studio master and, if they tweaked the multichannel master at all before doing the mix, it would have been with 1973 technology and limited to a few twiddles of the EQs.
A remix from just a few years ago, be it mono, stereo or multichannel, would have seen the original studio multichannel master be transferred to digital and cleaned up during the process. Then the remix would be done in the digital domain and tweaked with all of audio technology that a 21st century studio has to offer.
I would expect a quite noticeable difference in sound quality.
