Don't know if this is your bag, but the new Nine Inch Nails album free on NIN.com website has several songs with really low extension. Corona Radiata really stands out. It's not much into dance so to speak...more a laid back thumper.

stay away from mp3's. if you have to then go with variable bit rate, or 256kbps. If possible go with the cd version. Mp3s lose low end clarity. Pretty much any pop dance club music is fine, just dont gain it to death with too much bass.

yeah, I noticed that over the years. I have a full house system and I try to have mp3s that are 320 kbps but if I download itunes they are even worse

I have some of the songs listed, I will add the others...I listen and own almost everything out there.

There are some organ CDs out there with very loud bass in the mid-teen HZs. That's ear-popping, room shaking bass.

My favorite is an unofficial release called the soundhound organ CD, and it has some of the finest low bass I've ever heard. Check these three tracks out:

Blue Man Group "Audio" DVD-A is a good one, too:

How 'bout a CD from the old Atlantic City organ -- real 64' pipes, extending down to 8hz. And it could create 128 foot pipes using interference between notes, causing a 4 hz fundamental!

Finally, no low bass demo is complete without "Bass I Love You." 5HZ? Hello!

Who is that?

Also, thanks for the Blue Man group recommendation...That is the one selection I have keep forgetting...Actually, I hope there is a BluRay option for them!!

I'll throw in another recommendation for the new Nine Inch Nails CD. As stated previously it can be downloaded for free. What was not stated is that it can be downloaded in FLAC, Apple Lossless, or the Windows Media equivalent to apple lossless (can't remember what it's called). The bitrate on the Apple Lossless is 700 kbps!

In particular check out track 4 - Discipline right after 3:00 there's some awesome low stuff. Also as stated Corona Radiata has some great deep stuff including some great sweeps.

Indeed. Discipline has some good bass:

So does Corona Radiata:

But the undisputed king of bass from the album is track 9, The Four of Us Are Dying. Wow!

I had a thread here with some good recommendations:

I ended up buying many of the suggested artists.

Thanks for posting those graphs! I was very curious how the tracks actually stacked up to other bass heavy music on paper. The funny thing is, when I was listening to the album at home for the first time (I listened at work on headphones all day) I thought the kids had been messing with the gain on my sub for sure. The gain knob looked like it was in the right spot but I was starting to second guess myself on that until I saw the graphs. And that spike at 3:00 on Discipline is pretty hard to miss on that chart!

I'll chime in here and recommend "The Great Fantasy Adventure Album" from Telarc.
It has a few tracks that are rated to 5hz! all done by the Boston Pops.
It is an older recording but it still moves the room.
link.... CLICK

Level 42 - World Machine. The first cut will show if you have really solid low-end, or just a one-note noisebox....

You should choose some program material that is low but not too low to the point where it won't be realistically reproduced (like some 5-7Hz content or something like that).

The Saint-Saens Organ Symphony is a nice piece to show off 16Hz organ pedals. The Boston Audio Society offers a CD with a live recording of this.

The best bass is on DVD-A's, IME. The best two I own are Donald Fagan's, Morph the Cat and Fleetwood Mac's, Rumours, both on DVD-A.

I recently bought my first subwoofer.

Although it's not really my kind of music, I have occasionally used the Dish Network Club stations (like Area and Strobe on the Sirius and Dish CD channels) to get that I just bought my first subwoofer big bass fix.

I realize that the fabricated harmonic resonances in this kind of music provide a lot of the impression of rattling, powerful bass, - but how low does their lowest bass actually go?
