Not really. I think the pictures make the subwoofers look closer than they really are. They are 7.5' from the corner back of the couch. I used the center cushion as my 1st (main) listening position and Audyssey measured the subs as 9' away, which is spot on. I have never felt any wind in my hair when I am sitting on my couch. I sure can feel the bass on my back though.

When I play sine wavs I have a really hard time telling where all the bass is coming from. I have my mains set to large (they are rated +/- 3dB at 25hz - 20khz) and lfe+mains turned on. I have to go feel the subwoofers on my mains to determine if they are moving. Sometimes they aren't moving but the bass from the subs are rocking the front walls. The bass along all of my walls is crazy though for some reason (probably physics).

There is a lot of wind back there though. Once when I was measuring KFP at -5 MV at my main listening position, the wind from the sub blew the SPL meter over. It was 113dB in case you're wondering.

Never argue with an idiot; they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

couldn't hurt (except for your back) to try it

who knows, could make things worse or better

I'll have to try that one of these days. These subs are heavy and Audyssey takes 30 minutes minimum to do in all 8 positions. I'd also like to try the 15hz mode too.

MJG100,

I know you did, I actually PMd prior to placing my order as I had a few questions for you.

ED did a great job. Mow I just need my brother-in-law to make a minor fix to my door. The hinge is on the inside, and the door will no longer fit with the sub in there. I need to make the door where it will pop on now. I do not want to use the screen that came with the sub. My door looks much better and matches the other side of the ET center.

I must say, I am liking the way things are shaping up. I can only see myself replacing mains at this point, and then I am done with sound.

Then a projector, and then........

You all know how it works

Something that you can try real quick is. Turn the 2 subs as they are a wee bit to the right, so that they are parallel to the side wall and the couch. I have found the frequency sweeps with sub turned into the room vs parallel gives a fairly lumpy output with certain frequencys. The other spot might be 90 degrees making it fire behind the couch across the back, perpendicular to the side wall.

I sure like that Dragon sub driver. Almost as if the Maelstrom-X and a TC driver had a baby. A big baby.

^^^heard that at the Chicago AVS meetup with Mark Seaton him self (he was demoing his new sat-sub combo and it sounded wonderful! that is one powerful air pusher!

I also like the front/back design. Pretty slick (forgive my ignorance if that design was used somewhere else before, I'm new to all of this higher end stuff)

Thanks. It doesn't seem crazy with the grill on because of the small cabinet. When you remove the grill and see the driver, it's a beast. Showed my friends and not much to see until I take the grill off. It's "wow" every time. Tight, deep, effortless, and clean bass just to sum it up.

Scott Simonian: I've seen those drivers before and can relate.

Bingo ! My venerable 2 Ce's. Had them for 15 years. They throw an amazing soundstage. The neat part about the black fabric wrap is that they also visually disappear when the light's go out in my HT room - no light reflections off the cloth, and the wall behind them is painted flat black. When we watch movies, you just don't see them.

You had Mark set them up, didn't you ? Are those LCRs made by him too ?
I've seen other pictures of your room - you must have one of the best HT's among the members.
Is it hard to leave home and go to work with a room like that ?

I got them in a kit, there were 6 wedges. Id say they are about 10" high. The kit is the Auralex studio kit and I picked it up from Guitar Center. That being said, they had separate bass wedges that were larger and might be more what you're looking for.

Are those subs Bosso had pictured his own designs? If so those are just sick. Some of the nicest looking subs I've ever seen. Very clever. I also wonder how that 20x6.5" mid bass module sounds. Looks super awesome!!
