I got mine from AcousticSoundDesign on ebay. Mike is quick to reply to emails and sent it out within 24hrs. It's nice living in CA too because it got here fast. Definitely a good $230 investment. I was told the price would be going up next month though!

I got mine today, and have just finished getting it setup and calibrated with my system. I must say at first i was like eh its okay, once calibrated though, its a monster with my other sub, the two of them make my couch feel like it's moving, it is absolute awesomeness, I have a huge grin on my face now when watching a movie!

...everyone in my house is telling me to turn it down now

It sounded great with my laptop but when I first connected it to my receiver I was a bit skeptical, after I ran the setup things got better. Then I watched Pirates of the Carribean and was dozing off until the storm and wow... I am wide awake now!

Lord of the Rings The Two Towers and The Return of the King are also awesome to test out the sub. The wing beats of the Nazgul are awesome...along with the battering rams hitting the castle walls. Sweet!!!

Watched journey to the end of the world tonight, and there was some good bass scenes. Nothing ground breaking, but having a nice sub to fill in the lower end really made the movie that much better.

Dang it:
I was going to jump on the 25% back from live.com but it is already down to 8%. I'll just keep livin' with one until I can nail it at 25%. It really does a great job for my room size.

Funny:
I was browsing through other AVS threads on $2000+ subs. The general comments sound about like the ones on this thread and generally have more bitching that they wanted a more expensive, higher end sub. There is no end to the desire to upgrade is there? I am pretty dang happy with this sub at it's price. You can run all the compression tests, barrion sweeps, and on and on, but it will remain a great sub at this price.

I don't know of any rhyme or reason why the Live discount jumps around. But instructions for Live Cashback is here: http://search.live.com/cashback/howToUse.

Thank you! I was trying to figure this out as well, didn't make sense at first. Now, do you just keep checking back to see if Ebay will be one of the stores on there or what...? Right now I don't see anything for Ebay.

This is the only way I could get it to work.

1.Make sure you're signed in to live.com.

2.Go to live.com

3. Search in the search box for what you're looking to buy. DO NOT CLICK THE CASHBACK LINK AT THE TOP TO SEARCH. You need to do a traditional search.

4. If there is cashback available, there will be a dollar symbol next to the ebay.com link at the top of the screen in the search results. Sometimes it doesn't always appear immediately, and you need to refresh the page. DO NOT CLICK THE DOLLAR SYMBOL NEXT TO THE LIVE.COM LINK.

5. Click the gold dollar sign icon.

6. Follow instructions from there.

No problem. Nobody every properly explained it to me, and it took me forever to figure it out.

I forgot to mention, that it always comes up when I type in "wii" in the search box. I was doing a search for energy speakers once, and it wouldn't come up, so I changed the search to wii, and got in the ebay site. Then once in the ebay site, modify your search to whatever you're looking for.

This guy does seem to have a short break-in period, so don't be surprised if it starts out smaller than you expect and then starts really producing the bass. By the second or third movie it should be pumping. Assuming of course, that you have all the settings and placement right. Which for me was several days of tinkering. But I love to tinker with crud like this so: Win/Win.

Enjoy.

got mine also today and let me just say i am very pleased! i'm a concert DVD fan and this sub is great! i'm playing the eagles farewell tour DVD as i'm typing this and it sounds wonderful. for all who wanted to know how this sub does with music i can tell you its fantastic!. i'm coming from a velodyne VX10 and while the bass was pretty good with the velo, i now realize how boomy it was. this sub is just deep and accurate. i've yet to detect any boominess and i've played several of the DVD's so far. it fills in the bottom end very nicely. sounds mellow and smooth. its set according to what was recommended on here and it is spot on! mains, center, and surrounds are set to small and crossover at 80HZ in the onkyo. i do not have the sub in a corner as my setup doesnt permit. i just have it next to my left main and its great. just wanted to give everyone a heads up on my experience. hope it helps.

Whats are people experiencing with the PA-120 on the cave scene of Iron Man?

I got a PA-120 for my dad for Christmas, the sub rocks, especially after I set his TR-SX606 up properly with his Blu Ray player. However having the TR-SX606 set at 0db for the sub and the sub itself set at 5 and volume between 40-50 on the TR-SX606 I hear as I what I best describe as port chuffing.

So, just curious as what everyone else is getting with Iron Man and the PA-120? I saw one person comment that the port on the PA-120 looks too small for a 12".

Thanks

I have the same settings but through a Yamaha 663 and didn't hear any chuffing (I was used to it coming from a Sony sub) from the bluray?

No cuffing here.

It would hold 20hz at 95db with no problem. The only time it cuffed is when I did a 20hz sweep at 102 db. Never doing that again.

I am thinking about purchasing this sub do to my budget constraints. It seems like a lot of people like this sub.

How is this sub with music? From reading the posts it seems that most of the PA-120 owners are using it for HT. I will be using it 40% music and the other 60% for blu ray and games.

I know I am asking a lot to get a budget sub that will perform well with both music and movies, but I like to have my cake and eat it too.

Nwebie question. If I use my AVR to set the crossover for the sub. Do I match the sub crossover to the AVR or do I set the sub to 0hrz and let the AVR run it at 80hrz.

AVR=Pioneer VSX 01TXH

Thanks

Turn the cross over on the sub all the way right or max hz. Make sure you set your all your speakers to "small"

Hmmm....read all the posts on this thread, can't understand how I missed that one!

Do other owners of the PA-120 agree that this sub works well with music? Although I am sure his opinion is accurate, it would be nice to have verification from other owners. I will be placing my order soon even though it won't be available for shipment until the week of March 23.

Thanks

With the music I listen to, I don't think the sub is used much in the first place.
