I wish I had that kind of restraint. When upgradtitis hits, I can't control myself. Lol.

I thought it was a great deal and would complement my setup well as I needed that lower end for movies, gaming, etc. I've got Energy C-500's, CC100, and C-100's all off a Yamaha 663. Anyways, I brought the sub home and placed it next to my Front Right speaker about 1.5ft away from the wall. Now the problem is...my parents have the Klipsch Sub-12 or whatever it's called, the 12" Klipsch haha. Theirs seems to hit much harder and deeper than mine. I've played a few songs through optical cable (digital) and played a few games of the new Call of Duty:Black Ops but it seems like I'm yearning for more. Right now I've just got a standard little RCA cable (1 connector to 1 connector), just the skinny little cables like they used to use back in the day for dvd players, etc. I've already ordered a 12ft sub. cable from Monoprice but do you think that's the problem?

When I played a few of the songs it seems that my C-500's got deeper than before I had the sub connected. I've set the crossover to the highest point, set all my speakers to small and set the sub x-over at 80hz. I have to turn the "volume" knob to around 6-7 before I hear any real lower end come in. Is that normal? I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't fry my subs amp by turning that control up that high. When I get the cable I'll try to find the best place for my sub am I doing something wrong or is there something I need to change on my AVR besides what's already been changed?

Edit- Oh yeah, I leave it on "On" instead of "Auto"...that okay?

Did you end up getting this figured out?

^ Why not just go to acousticsounddesign.com yourself, find out what's what, and then report back?

18% off 260 dollars is 213 and not under 200 so I'm not sure how he got that price.

First let me make a disclaimer: I'm no audiophile, but I've heard a few subs in my day, many in car audio. I have a decent grasp of what hard, tight, and low are when I hear them. I'm still learning about room bulls and other more complex concepts.

That said, I think this sub is excellent for the price. I first tried it in our living room. I was a bit underwhelmed. Tried playing with the settings, but I think the bottleneck was our old Sony receiver, which has very limited allowance for settings, specifically crossover points. Also, the room is very open and I didn't play around much with placement (yet).

So moved it to our guest room where we currently have a nice yammy receiver and a set of energy classics. Even the energy sub sounds decent there. Anyway, the PA sounds much much better there! It hits hard with no distortion where my other subs would've given up. It's a hair boomy right now but I think that's from the corner loading. I'm going to play with it some more and see what happens. Right now I'm very happy with it and I suspect happier after more tweaking.

Hope this helps. Sorry no charts or measurements, although I might play with the new dB meter on my droid x.

Just got my pa-120 two days ago and got the chance to hook it up in our den to test it out. Haven't had a lot of time to listen to it (about 30 minutes so far) but parts of Transformers 2 and Despicable Me sounded great. You could "feel" the bass shaking the room. I'll get some more time Friday and this weekend to crank it but currently I couldn't be happier.

I'm especially excited to put this thing in my dedicated home theater room (that's what I got it for) in the basement (which is under construction). The room is about 19'x13' and is a dedicated room so the pa-120 should sound great in there when it's done.

Just bought this sub for $207 shipped from Mike @ acousticsounddesign.

Really nice guy. Expected delivery next Thursday.

I am from Canada but I have family on vacation in Florida so they are bringing it back for me to save shipping/duty. It's pretty hard to find this quality of sub at this price point up here.

Looking forward to trying it out in March when they return!

I have a PA-120 with a Denon 1610 in a 15x25 by cathedral ceiling living room. My first setup of Audyssey a year ago made the sub at -2 a redo of the setup put it at -8 or-5. Blanking which. I do know that the volume and thump isn't as loud as it was.

I have the volume on the subwoofer at about 4 and I run movies at +2 on the dial on my Denon. I think 0 is reference.

Before my latest Audyssey redo I used to get massive thump when the helicopter crashed in Matrix and the bass keyboard/guitar in the bank lobby scene of Matrix. Believe it or not the best bass is the trailer for Michael Jackson's This Is It at the front of the BD District 9?

But currently for music, this volume is great.

Maybe I just need to bring the sub back up to -2 on the Denon, which I haven't tried yet.

How do I know how loud on the sub I can turn up the volume and how loud the Denon Audyssey subwoofer volume output should be if I am running movies at +2?

I just don't want to blow up the speaker. I was very happy before, but looking for only a slight push in volume and thump. It was still awesome but even then, so awesome I was worried that I would blow the thing up. Of course, maybe that is what it is supposed to be like.

In such a large room, honestly, I think you could benefit from two PA-120s.

Hi everyone, i want to order from Amazon and import to South Africa PA120 Titanium sub. Would like to know if the power supply on the unit is capable of 220V or it is only 110V. Your help is very much appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks JerSully, may i presume that all of them will be identical? What is your gut feeling? Did you order yours from Amazon, if it is not too rude to ask. I'm taking the plunge and going to order. This baby is going to replace an old JBL one. Can not wait

I don't recall any design changes other than a change in the cone color, but after I bought mine a few years back I pretty much stopped following the thread. Mine was purchased on eBay.

You might want to scan the thread to verify that. You can also find the contact information for the importer here in the US. Perhaps he can answer your question and make you a better deal than Amazon.

Thanks, i've all ready ordered. Did send e-mail to sound distributors as well last night, but still waiting for a reply from them. Once i've got a defined answer will post it here. Did look at the thread but could not find any one else to ask that question.

Got an answer from sound distributors and the guy says is only 110V. Well, probably will have to buy a converter.

Ha-ha, don't really know. Does not matter much. I could not get it in SA in the first place. That's why the price is not really relevant. Once i've got the unit will post again. Thanks for a help JerSully

Hi everyone and greetings from sunny SA. Got PA-120 yesterday. The box arrived in excellent condition and well packed with stickers Fragile all over the box. Would like to confirm that the sub comes with the switch at the back for 115-230V,even that i was told that it is only 110V. I moved the switch to 230 and had to change the plug from US to SA standard and the sub was ready to rock The sub replaced about 10 years old 8" JBL sub who served me well, but was time for an upgrade. The sub is connected to HK 235 and i did not change any settings. Did not play any music for now on it, but watched War of the Worlds and Dark Knight both Blu Rays and all that i want to say is that i'm very happy with it. Lots of lfe that simply was not there before. Great, great sub for the money. Came to 500$ but this is one of disadvantages living at the bottom of the world. Apart from that very happy with my buy.

Glad you like your PA-120. It's a nice sub at its price point. Too bad it cost you so much more to get it to SA.

By the way, I was in SA last month - Jo'burg, Sun City, CapeTown, Kapama... all the good stuff. Beautiful country! If someone gives me a job in CapeTown, I'll move there.

Very happy with the purchase, watched also Black Hawk Down and Avatar the other night. Much better then my old JBL. So much more bass. As i said in purpose i did not change any settings on my HK and sound is so much richer.
It is a beautiful country and what i like even more is how free one feels here and amazing weather with summer almost all around the year. Pity that you came during the so called "winter". Through my life lived and worked in Russia, Germany, NZ and decided to stay in SA. Originally i'm from Bulgaria. Keep well.
