No word if full manufactures warranty applies to thenerds.com yet?

How big a difference would the F12 be for playing music compared to a Mirage Omni S8?

Office - Onkyo 506, AV123 X-LS Encore Monitors
Living Room -Panasonic 60ST60, Onkyo 707, Ascend Acoustics Sierra-1 LCR

Just pulled the trigger on one from Beach Audio. I called to check stock first and they said they had 10 left- so now they have 9. I'll post my impressions when I get it. Glad I found this thread!

I got an email from BIC saying it would be fully covered by warranty. Keep your sales receipt.

Thanks, Gary! I just snagged an F12 from them. Hopefully this will be some slight improvement over my current 6.5 inch "subwoofer".

Dare I ask.... anyone have some REW graphs of this? Can someone give us an idea of how loud it plays without distorting or bottoming out? Seems dirt cheap... and you know what they say about getting what you pay for......

Why would an Epik or Rythmik be 5x the cost if they didn't have to be?

Because they are better subs, no ones saying they aren't. If you want a sub at their price point they are great choices to consider. If you want a sub at this price point it's a great sub to consider and imo the best choice at $200ish based on my experience with the H100. There's just not that many quality choices at this price point.

I had REW plots with the H-100 but that's been a while ago and they have since been deleted. It had good ouput down to around 25 in my room but fell off rapidly after that, not great but for $200ish awesome. And as far as output it would shake things up more than anything else in it's price range except maybe the Cadence 12" which was very comparable.

Again it's an excellent sub at this price, imo the best. But to put it in the same sentence with SVS, HSU, Epik, Rythmik, Ed and a few others that are 5x the cost as you put it is laughable and should be at their respective price points.

Thanks...I might do that at some point when I feel the sub is not adequate enough for my setup anymore. Although, I would most likely just purchase something higher up the ladder. In my current setup, I am pretty happy with the F12's performance so far.

After reading all the excellent feedbacks here, I decided to give this little guy a shot. Hopefully I won't be disappointed. BTW, if anyone's looking to get this, pro digital mall is having it for 160 + shipping. Don't know much about the merchant but will see.

Hey all,

From the pics posted in the thread, it looks like the F-12 has an auto turnon and auto-shutoff function. Anyone know if this will cause the amplifier to degrade faster over time? As some of you know, a few of the KEF subwoofers seem to have this problem. I have emailed BIC to find out the scoop on what they recommend in regards to this mode, but I'd like to hear from some owners. This sub might be too new for issues to have come up for most people, but if you've got any input or know something we don't know, let us know here.

I've heard of no issues with the auto standby or on function with the Bic. Most powered subs have them now and except for a few isolated issues they seem to work great and have no effect on the long or short term dependability of the sub.

Just bought supposedly the last one from nerds. So far, all the reviews from the forums have been dead on for my other equipment and I Thank You all for the input. I was originally going to purchase the Pa-120, but at a savings of 55 bucks and your reviews I couldn't pass it up. Oh and Thanks for the live search feature. You guys are the best, I'll post back when I receive it and chime in.

The nerds are slow so far...I ordered Monday and still didn't get the sub OR tracking info. I guess I need to call the NERDS!

I also ordered fro them Monday. I did not get a tracking number until Friday. But it turns out the sub was shipped Tuesday and is already at the local Fedex location.

Got my F-12 last Friday from Beach Audio. Coming from a KEF PSW2150, I'm pretty impressed with the low frequency extension and the dynamic power. This thing rumbles pretty well and has enough hit to make you feel it. I haven't had a chance to do really fine adjustments yet, but it seems like this sub will be decent for music, but not spectacular- with only my rough adjustments out of the box, some types of music were a bit too boomy, and others sounded good- I guess I'll need to tweak a bit more to find the best for my taste.

Either way, for the price, I'm happy.

Got the sub yesterday, listened to music all day and popped in a movie in the evening. I'm a happy camper !! Audyssey set the distance spot on, but set the db's at -6. I set the db at 0, volume at 5 on sub. Speakers were set to small by Audyssey and I set the crossover frequency to 60Hz (I have 6 towers in my HT set up) and it rocks. Tight, packs a punch and it's not boomy !!!!!! Compliments the sound just what I was looking for. The only draw back is if you want to piggy-back for another sub add-on, there's no hook-up. Oh well, for the price and quality can't complain, might buy a PA-120 and piggy-back this sub into that.

^ Another happy camper...cool. Glad you like it. I am really happy with this sub in my current setup. For the price..it's an excellent buy.

btw..What is the purpose of piggy-backing? Why can't you just split the connection coming out of your AVR for dual subs?

Go Phillies! Go Eagles! Go Sixers! Go Flyers!

A Y cable or adapter will allow one to have multiple subs in a system, it's the way most people do it anyway.

If you're thinking about running multiple subs get another F12 as you want to have the same subs to keep the frequency response across it's usable range the same. You can invite several issues by trying to mix subs in a system, even if they are fairly close in spec.

Thought of a Y cable but didn't think you could do that. I thought you'd lose something doing that. Good to know. Thanks for the info. I will buy another F12.

close to pulling the trigger. I'm not too concerned with power output, I want a sub that's able to hit low frequencies and sounds crisp. is this that kind of sub

It's as much of that kind of sub as you'll get at this price point. If you're expecting low or sub 20hz output and chest pounding bass with music you'll need to shell out more bucks. If you remember what you paid for the F12 and don't expect the above then imo it's one of if not the best choice.

well, my current sub only goes down to 40hz, the 25 seems good. this is a pretty big sub, 12", I just don't want it to be too 'boomy'. are there any other alternatives besides this? I've only seen the PA-120, but I'm leaning towards this one because of the price, from what I've read it F12 and PA120 are about equal in quality.

I've read some good stuff on the PA120 but never tried it. I have had the Bic H-100 which was the previous version of the F12 and was very surprised by it at it's price. Any sub can be boomy if not properly setup and level matched with the other speakers, once you do that I don't think you'll have any issues.
