I have no idea what the exact results would be, but I would HIGHLY suggest you NOT spray paint your sub. If you prefer your speaker grills off but don't like the mismatching colors, just take the speaker grills off but leave the sub grill on. It won't be very noticeable. If you spray paint it and ruin it, it would really suck to be out another $200 for another sub.

Rimmi, did you purchase your F12 and the rest of your system to look at or to listen to? How often do you have the front covers off? They are there for a reason, dust, animals, kids, they used to be called dust covers by some manufacturers. Also, the F12 cone is more of a copper colour, not silver, don't know why or how yours would be silver.

Got it. Will keep sub grill on. Actually bought the speakers to listen to only, but The klispch look really good with the grills off....so decided to keep them off...have no kids or pets in the house only adults. For the dust factor, I guess I should clean them more often then.

btw just wanted to ask does the BIC F-12 have a break-in period? If so then is there a right way to do it....like with plasma TV burn in period....or just use it as usual and it will get better with time?

Just receive the F12. Saw Live Free or Die Hard and then Transformer again. This thing is awesome. Will watch Sunshine again. Overkill for my room, but it will eventually be in my parents living room.

rimmi, some say there is a burn in, some say no, for all speakers that is. Paradigm says they do it at the factory... I say just play it, drive it hard after a couple of hours, you want to know if it can perform now and not find out later that it's faulty for some reason. There is some comments about this very thing many pages back, some links to articles from 'experts' on both sides of the burn in topic. If you google speaker burn in you'll find hours of reading, 50%/50% yes/no!
ps; all my speakers look great cover off, they are all different, fronts, rears, centre and F12, but I know that speakers are dust magnets and a pain to clean. Mine stay on unless I'm a bit buzzed and want to see all 9 of my woofers dancing to some LOUD music.

Well I got my replacement sub from BLC yesterday. They even sent it SIGNATURE REQUIRED and UPS still left it at the door. Good thing my neighbor saw it and put it inside his house for me. BLC was very good about this whole thing and their customer service is very good.

The sub is amazing and is def enough for my room. Couldnt be happier!! These are with 2 Polk Monitor 50's and Polk CS1. Now I need to order my monitor 30 for the surrounds! Thans everyone for a great recomendation!

This thing seems like a killer! I wonder if it would be an overkill for my application (basically a finished 2 car garage)? I was looking for a smaller sub, but for the price I could just get this one and turn it down I guess... BIC doesn't make a comparable 10" do they? For $180 it can't be beat.

Nah, it won't be overkill. Much better overall response than a 10" will give you. Will probably be about perfect for your area! Just go for it. =)

Thanks, I think I will. I've been looking for a decent, inexpensive sub... I keep coming back to this one. I too have Polk Monitor 50's, a CS10, and will be getting M30's... Should sound pretty good when everything is crossed over, and set up.

You can get it for about $180 at ShopBLT.com I've ordered from them twice. The second time they were out of stock as they are now, but I got the speaker in about 3 weeks. I thought it was going to be February so I'm glad I received it sooner.

Just got mine this past Tuesday too from ShopBLT. Hands down one of the BEST purchases I've made in a long time. Thanks for recommending this sub people! I was using an old Onkyo sub and needed a better sub to pair with my Bose Jewel cubes so after all the great raves and reviews on this thread, (and for $180) I was like what the heck - sure why not? IMO movie wise, this sub blew away my B&W ASW608 sub and I paid half of what the B&W costed me. My Bose setup is upstairs and by B&W setup is downstairs and I ended up switching the subs...hah hah!

If you want a sub and your budget is under $200 - F12 FTW!

The H100 is a better looking sub imo. Performance wise, they are the same from all the info I have read. I have had my F12 for about a year now, and I have been pretty happy with it's musical performance for it's price point. In my setup, and with the type of music that I listen to, it rarely gets boomy.

Not many places have it in stock right now. Amazon..but it's $350.00 there. Some members have been getting it at BLT lately, but it's in and out of stock.

If I was you, and wanted a sub in the $200.00 price range, I'd be all over samurd2's H100 link. That's a good price.

i like the f12 because it matches everything.

Will next to the left tower be a good spot for it, even though the couch is close?

^^^Sick set up!^^^

I think it will look great.

I almost purchased the V1220, down-firing BIC 12' sub, but I am wondering if that is the older model?

Also would 2 of these be overkill for a 26x20x8 basement?

No, not at all. Many members here have much bigger subs in a space that size.

If you wish to keep your speaker grills off, like your other speakers in the picture, the F12 would certainly match them better and I could see why you would prefer it.

That location would be fine to start with imo. But room sub placement has a pretty big impact in getting the best sound out of the sub in your listening area. If it sounds good to you in that location you will be all set. If not, you can move it around using techniques descibribed in other threads here. One technique would be the "sub crawl".

Well, with my home theater upgrade winding down, it sure seems inevitable that I will soon be adding a second F12. About the only other thing I plan on doing is buying a Denon AVR 790 within this next month hopefully. I recently bought a refurb Panasonic BD35 bluray player and a URC-R50 remote control.

I certainly don't "need" another F12. I am just intrigued though by thinking of possibilities.

Pulled the plug on the F12 from BLT as well based on the comments in this thread. Upgrading my HT has definitely been an unexpected, but awesome experience so far. (Bought a Denon 1910 and 2x Energy RC-Minis as well for a 2.1 setup--will buy the center channel and 2 more RC-Minis in a few months or so) Should definitely be an improvement over the horrible Philips HTiAB that I got from Woot a few years back. I'll let you guys know how it goes once I get everything!

I wonder why Amazon charges more for the F12, than they do for the BIC Acoustech H200? The H200 has a better warranty, slightly better frequency response, HUGE difference in the Dynamic Peak Output, and almost twice the RMS output. I think Amazon is coasting on the popularity of the F12 even though the newer H200 looks better on paper.

I ordered mine from BLT back on Jan 19 so my eta is still at the 9th even though the sites has 19th and 28th.

I called BLT yesterday at 11am pst to see what's up and got a nice guy called Sam. Told me that since my order was placed so far back and they've been receiving a few trickling shipments every now and then he said mine should be received and shipped any day now......key word SHOULD....

Will post back when they send me a tracking number or I receive it whichever is first..... since I'm not too sure I will get tracking number

Yay first post

I had a good experience with ShopBLT.

I placed my order like on 1/7/10 and didn't get it until 1/26. But that was actually better than the ETA date that they gave me which was 2/9/10.

So with luck, you guys should get yours sooner than later.

And yes, they will give you a tracking number....(they gave me one).
