I play my stuff at moderate levels.

Shows what you know smart one.

Subwoofers are bass specialists. If they could wear a hardhat and carry a clipboard, they would.

Designed and engineered I dont doubt. But most American electronics companies buy their parts from overseas and assemble the product here. If you dig deep enough you would probably find that almost nothing in the Bic products is made in America.
Rhythmik is a American company and even their cabinets are made in China.

Point of the matter is they are from America in which I stated

They are from America, I would have hoped they'd actually build better products than this.
Absolutely hate that company!
I bought one years ago, still have it, still love it, for my theatre viewing as well as music. Maybe you people just don't know how to set it up properly or you drive it past clipping, at which point it doesn't matter which sub you buy, you clip it long enough, it dies. Of course a $1,000 sub wouldn't need to be driven as hard as the F12 but I've cranked the crap out of mine many times, music and movies and no problems. Very happy with it never any issues, more than I can say for some of you!

Had mine for many years. It's been kind to me but I can't say the same for me to it. Audessy has me running it with the gain at about 2 and it will hang with me as loud and as hard as I can push it. I will forever recommend the f12 as THE best budget sub one can buy. Of course, YMMV.

Their subs are not good, If you make it past 5 years with one I'd be really shocked and amazed!

I ran an F12 for two years in my setup and drove it pretty hard. I never had an issue with it and thought that it was a very solid budget subwoofer. My F12 is in my Dad's system now and continues to run strong.

Great sub for what it is: budget product for use in smaller rooms played at moderate levels. Been running mine daily and have had no problems at all.

I find your lack of schadenfreude disturbing.

Curious what others have the gain set at on their F12's? I have mine set at 4 gain on the subwoofers and -9db in the receiver. I've seen others have the gain set at 1-2 and the receiver at -1db or 0db. Might play around with it to see which sounds better. Thanks.

Mine too is pretty low...probably around 2 (I'm not home right now to verify exactly). When I run audessy I adust the gain to get as close to 0db as possible then bump it up +3db in the AVR afterwards. At first I thought this would be too low as well but we have to remember, gain is not volume and when the source material calls for it my F12 answers with thunderous bass even at very low gain settings. You're right though, what sounds best to YOU is what's most important!

Played around with the gain and offset and I've set the gain on the subwoofers to 2 and the offset on the receiver to -1db. Bass seems a bit punchier and tighter from what I've listened to so far.

My gain is set at about the 9 o'clock position, Audyssey set the AVR to 0 dB.

I have owned many subs including SVS and PSA monsters. I have also owned some budget subs including the dayton 1200 and this Bic F12. While it doesn't hold a candle to the SVS/PSA subs I have owned, I continue to be very impressed with how low, deep and excellent sounding the bottom end is with the F12. In it's price range I don't think it has competition frankly....

I don't own an F12 (I have SVS plus, and ultra series 12" cylinder subs) but a friend of mine who recently has started to put a small HT together bought one and asked if I could help him set it up. I was blown away by how good it sounded. It seemed to have ample power and went low enough to feel it in your chair. Now it doesn't have the pure muscle to down under 25hz with authority like my SVS's but for the price (I think he paid $180) it has no equal that I'm aware of.

Well, silly me. 10 mins of searching indicates they don't provide PDF manuals. Pfft. If they do, they're well hidden.

I also have an SVS, PB12+ for the home theater. Outstanding sub, best I've ever heard. I also have the BIC F12 for the living room tv, and for the money (paid $180.00) it's not too bad. It's used daily for the past 2 1/2 years for tv watching only. An equal, or maybe better to the BIC may be The Pioneer SW-8MK2 Andrew Jones Designed 100-Watt Powered Subwoofer. It's only 8 inches, and so far it does very, very good for my home office 2.1 set up for audio only. It blends in well with my 30 year old Advent Legacy speakers. Just got the Pioneer sub 2 weeks ago, and for music, it's great for my office. Obviously, it can't compair what my SVS does for home theater, but for a smaller home theater, I think the Pioneer would do great, even though it's an 8 inch. Oh, and paid $106.99
