I'm purchasing a powered sub to replace one that just died. I am pretty sure I want to go with Elemental Designs, but there are a few models in my price range and I'm not sure which one to go with and I'm hoping to get some advice.

Here's some info about the usage/area it will be going in. It's a fairly large basement room (25'X25'), it'll be used primarily for television and movies, but we do play music and video games (Rockband) on it from time to time.

Here are the two models I've been trying to decide between:

A2 - 300 Subwoofer
Subwoofer Driver Size : 12" x 1
Power : 250W
Dimensions : W - 18.00", H - 18.00", D - 21.5"
Frequency Response : 18-100Hz
Weight : 71 lbs

Uses the 13Kv.2 Subwoofer (which appears to be discontinued).

OR:

A3 - 250 Subwoofer
Subwoofer Driver Size : 10" x 1
Power : 350W
Dimensions : W - 13.75", H - 13.75", D - 24.5"
Frequency Response : 20-100Hz
Weight : 68 lbs

This one appears to be a newer model and uses a 11Ov.2 Subwoofer.

It's worth nothing (and should be updated on the eD web site)

We've been building the drivers for the A2-300 in house for a few months. While that particular subwoofer model name isn't being produced in 1000+ quantities anymore we're producing the HT version in house in Iowa which performance wise is very similar. Only cosmetically different.

Assuming nothing has been done to the A3-250 to make it radically better than it was, A2-300 all the way.

Unless you can't physically fit it. If you want the sub under an end table, A3-250 for sure.

You could use 2 of the A2-250's, I would think in the long run you'd be much happier with two A2-300's. The performance gained from the step up from the 250 to the 300 is really worth the money as long as you have the room for the larger enclosure. The A2-300 is just gives better performance for what I think you may be looking for, especially when you wind up with a pair of them later down the road. Thank you for the interest, if you do have any questions please let us know.

Best Regards,

http://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/ele/5469187699.html

He has replaced the driver with a 10" that has teh model number of a 15", says the amp has much more power than advertised by E.D. and I am confused.

Send him a note through craigslist. He's obviously got his model numbersswitched up.

He posted pictures, the model on the magnet is 15" My concern is that drivers, amps and boxes are designed to go together and when things are changed odd things happen. I sent a message asking.

I bought the sub, it's awesome. Driver was made by a local company Robot Underground.

http://robotunderground.blogspot.com/

https://squareup.com/market/robot-underground

The driver specs are dual 4 ohm 1250 max 750 rms.

Anyone know the specs of the LS 300 E.D. amp? I searched and found nothing.
