in the interim, I have loved my Polk PSW505 since I got it. First thing I listened to was Dark Knight and it blew me out of my seat. And to me, it sounds really good with music.

Polk gets a bad rap because of the psw10 / 110. I have one of those I just put on porch (moved from MBR). There is not an iota of comparison between the two. The PSW 110 just gives you some boomy bass to fill in the gap if you are on an extreme budget or third system. But, not really a home theater sound.

To early on compare the PSW 505 to the BIC PL-200 which can be had for 270.

Where can you get the BIC for 270? I seen the Lava for 280 but not the BIC for 270. The PSW505 is 200 dollars on newegg right now which is a steal but from what I heard it's a small 12 inch sub and it doesn't get that low. The side by side comparison therefore would be sick and I'm guessing I'd probably be happy either way no matter what sub I really would rather get it right on the first try so if the BIC really is that much better I might as well get it since I wanted to spend around 250 anyway.

yes they accept offers of $269. Try ebay or email them on their website.

they are prettier than the Polks with the black lacquer top (and bottom?). And about 3-4 inches deeper.

Hi to all:

I read all threads of this forum. Took me hours!!! But worthy. I was looking for a nice sub < $350. After 2 whole weeks of reading in this and other forums my conclusion was to get a Klipsch Sub-12 for $299 in newegg. I was convinced thats the sub I want. I went to BestBuy and they have the new model SW-450 and I love how it sounds.

But until today I decided and placed the order of this BIC PL-200. My first option was to get a downfiring sub. Elemental Designs eD 2-300 was my choice but shipping was price so I skipped it. My 2nd choice was Klipsch Sub-12.

After reading all this I took this PL-200. My interest is 70% movies and gaming and 30% musical. I've read that this sub its not too good for music but with some crossover and gain adjustments we can reach the sweet spot for music too. I hope I choose a wise decision between Sub-12 and this one.

My main speakers are Polk Rti A7. Center, and Surrounds are Polks. My 3D Tv is a Samsung UN55C8000. And sub is an old 12" Cerwin Vega but doesnt sounds too good. My Polk 10" that costs me $99 sounds better. Receiver: Marantz SR6003

Any comments? Was a good choice? Thanks in advance.

Yes I understand they are prettier and I know it's probably really easy to convince a person who spends tons of money on clothes and nice things that I should buy it just based on the look alone. I wouldn't mind however saving the extra 75 dollars if possible and putting it towards Monitor 70s if I can so I'm just trying to figure out how EXACTLY the PL-200 is better than the PSW505

I read this whole threat; all 600+ threads here from owners of Polks505 and Sub-12 and YES!; BIC PL-200 is way better than Polk 505 and Klipsch Sub-12

Thanks, you've done exactly what I did and said exactly what I don't need to hear. I want to know specifics. Like where both subs bottom out, which sub is better musically or movie wise or what the sub is better at. Things like that. I obviously don't need to look far to see 100 people say PL-200 is better than "insert sub name here".

In that case then you have to read this whole threat because I cant remember exactly in what pages are. Owners explains it all here in this thread. According to them I can tell you briefly that PL200 is clean, tight, and punchy bass and goes lower than Sub12; also better for movies and gaming but also good in music but not as good as sealed subs for music while Sub12 is more boomy and not so clean

Too bad but seems I got an used or refurbished Pl200. The box does not looks like new. Also i checked the port and its was dusty. I will encourage anyone who bought new Pl200s to verify carefully with a flash light if the ported portion is dusty. Also the manual was creased (wrinkled). The crossover knob was not centrallized correctly if you move it in full to the 90hz mark it moves more than that. I havent tested yet how it sounds because i got it today but i left work at 11pm. I will test it tomorrow. I have pics to post. So far I feel completly dissapointed.

I got mine from sounddistributors. Where you get your sub? I tested today and honesty it sounds awesome but anyway I have this bad feeling that i got an used one. Something I noticed when I put on the reciever the crossover at 60hz it sounds more clean and less loud. When I changed on the receiver At 80hz it soumds louder. Settings at the back on the sub the crossover its somewhere 80hz.

Inception gave my PL-200 a real workout but it handled it like a champ. I'm very pleased I went with this sub.

Agreed,I thought my windows were going to shatter or things were fixing to come flying off the wall from all the bass.I can only imagine what it would sound like with two subs in stead of one.I am very pleased with this sub and do not regret purchasing it.

I went with an Emotiva 10"-- it will get here Wednesday. Got it primarily for its musicality and the fact that a ton of power is bad for me in my condo. Can anyone comment on it compared to the PL-200?

I just ordered a PL-200 from Sounddistributors. I wanted to get the Lava 12" but didn't want to wait 6 weeks for them to come back in stock. I'm upgrading from an Athena AS-P400, I'm hoping there will be a noticeable difference in power there.

Here's pics that makes me feels I got an used or refurbished PL200. Anyone agreed with me? Check this legs; supposed to be black. You can see it has signs that was used. Check the top on the port; its full of dust. And the box looks pretty OLD!....

I haven't do nothing. I took this pictures as soon as UPS delivered to me. I sent an email with the pics to see if they can replace me the sub. I'll keep it only if they gives me at least $100 refund. Otherwise I prefer to send item back and wait for a brand new. Check Lava Forum you can see when they shipped items are completely brand new. Boxes news; everything new. I'm disappointed with BIC; otherwise sub sounds wonderful.

So I decided to compare my PL200 to my Velodyne CHT12 subwoofer. Didnt change the main settings from my Onkyo 3007 receiver since I didnt want to go thru audessy again. I did crank up the volume on the PL200 sub since it was dialed in lower than the CHT12.
Im kinda of disappointed with the results from the PL200...the CHT12 seems to be cleaner, lower, and tight. I have hte PL200 as my main theatre sub and the CHT12 in my living room. Now Im thinking about moving the PL200 to my bedroom and getting another brand or a used CHT12? Any other subs that I should look at or did I do something wrong in this comparision?

Try putting sub crossover all way clockwise and set crossover on the receiver at 60hz. I get a better and cleaner results at 60 hz than 80 hz. Then let us know your results

I just purchased the PL200 for 260 recently but feel that the sub is no where as heavy as they advertise it to be. In fact, it's very light. Do you guys feel the same?

I also expected more bass out of it, though it maybe my receiver as I have just replaced it with a Yamaha. I also haven't fine tune the settings yet. It really doesn't feel all too substantial though compared to the JBL 12 inch I replaced.

As for the weight, the weight listed is the shipping weight and not physical weight.

Just ordered one of these from Sounddistrubitors on Sunday and should arrive on thurs. The purchase response was the quickest I've ever seen from Ebay. Sure hope it looks better than javygnox's.
I also wanted the lava but am ready to get something now and not wait, winter's here and ready to watch some movies. I'll keep you guys posted on how it goes.
