The DSP30 and Sub EQ are two different animals. The DSP30 is a parametric EQ solution (among other things but for this purpose, that is what we will consider) that operates only in the frequency domain and is a single point EQ device. The SubEQ operates in the time domain and is a multi-point room correction device. One of the many benefits of this multi-point, time-based solution is that is (among other things) quite effective at dealing with bass ringing/overhang that can really mess up the bass. And while removing single point peaks with the DSP 30 can reduce room ringing, it is experientially not as effective as the SubEQ. In fact, I did not even recognize what bass that clean sounded like until I installed the SubEQ. (I was running Audyssey Pro on my pre-pro and using the DSP30). I am not privy to how steep the filter capability of the SubEQ is by my uncorrected response only has a few peaks of about 5 db so that is not a concern of mine.

Do I think that DSP30 is a bad product? Not at all, particularly since I found mine used for a great price and as I noted earlier, still use it to provide push button options for having multiple bass level options. In fact, it has a lot of functionality that the SubEQ does not have but for my current speaker configuration, I do not need all of it. But, in my experience, it provides a less refined solution in my room than the SubEQ for correcting my four SubMersives.

Well it looks like the first of the Terraforms XL's are not too far away.

I am going to put one in the living room while I have my dedicated room built and watch my wife have a fit.

Mark , do the Terraforms XL's come with destruction by wife clause in the guarantee? Or will you take them back if the wife says "either the boxs that make that awful sound go or you go!" I sorry to say that all she cares about are the kids and shampoo. Maybe if you could have included a jungle gym that bolted to the Terraforms she would be warm up to them a little more.

I wanna see some pics of some Terraform XLs in their home theater home.
Anyone got some?

Also, by how much would a single Terraform XL outperform a SubMersive in a ~2600cuft room?

Lastly, how well would a Terraform XL and a SubMersive work together in the same home theater?

The one's pictured are the first production units headed out to the first owners. I would expect some in-home pics in the next 1-2 weeks.

The SubMersive and Terraform XL are very different animals. If listening to most music, they would be closer in output with the Terraform XL pulling away down low. When we switch to the very low frequency home theater content they have 2-4x the capability of the SubMersive down low while being audibly cleaner in the 10-20Hz range.

You would want to place the SubMersive at a significantly different location in the room where it could fill in/smooth any room mode issues from the Terraform XL's location. An auto EQ system like the Audyssey systems which have 2 sub outputs may do a good job on their own, but this would be an example where taking actual measurements would be immensely valuable vs. the blind stab of plug and play with this sort of combo.

Seems Mark was pretty confident that you could run a pair of them on a single 20 amp circuit with no problems, as quoted from the JTR thread here http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...6#post18594266

The 4kW amplifier Jeff is using is the same amplifier I'm using in my Terraform XL and some other future products. I've been testing prototypes of the amp for more than 6 months. I see no problem with normal use of a pair of these 4kW amplifiers on a single 20A home circuit.

Just talked to Mark the other day when he was up my way, and he was still working on them.... He didn't state a release date. Keep in mind they are an extremely complicated design and he's got some complex hurdles to overcome. I will say that what I saw of the design and build was really interesting.... I would really like to see/hear/FEEL the finished product...

I can only imagine how much output they would have...

I've been working on these quite a bit over the past few months and things are looking very promising after having to source and modify a new 18" PR. Other than the few orders from the past, I am not taking any orders on these until we've delivered the first few. Exact time line for open availability is still yet to be pinned down as I'm still sorting some details with production parts.
