he was just being honest. Remember.. this thing has been delayed since December of last year. Also, he didnt mean it is really "shaking itself apart"... he was saying that they ran into some structural problems with the first off the production line in January (ish) of this year that were not acceptable. Enough of a problem with the structure ( i have no idea what that is) ... that they stopped shipping them. I have had one on order since November of last year. I remember talking to Paradigm via facebook (see below) when the first big delay was announced early this year and they told me then that a first production run had shipped and there was a delay in manufacturing the second batch and that I was first in line for the second batch in March. Well, now three months later I am being told that the Sub2 might be ready in July. Meanwhile they have been promoting the Sub 2 all over the place all year long while the ship dates have been pushed from one month to the next. A bit irksome.

Paradigms response back in February (from a post to me on facebook):

"We're sorry for the confusion. It turns out demand of the SUB 2 has exceeded our original sales forecasts of this extremely complex and powerful subwoofer! The first production run has been shipped & sold, and the second round of units will be available soon"

And then again in March (facebook post):

"We are significantly oversold, well beyond our initial forecasts, and the inventory and production planning requirements for a product of this sophistication (each SUB 2 has two 3000 watt amplifiers and six 10" woofers, all built completely in house in North America) resulted in a 90 day gap in production. We expect to be building SUB 2's again in late March. Thanks again for your patience and for being a Paradigm fan! - we'll be building a SUB 2 just for you very soon, and we assure you it will be worth the wait!

Apparently your respected dealer doesn't know what he is talking about.
Maybe you should get your money back and buy the Sub 2 where they are better informed and want to keep their customers.

See my last Post. Apparently Paradigm is suffering from Schizophrenia (if your quote came from Paradigm). ..

I think the theory that the initial Sub 2s had structural problems can be easily debunked by the fact that reviewers were putting Sub 2s through hell months ago to no ill effect.

The "We can't make em fast enough to keep up with demand" excuse is pretty thin also, because I haven't seen ANYONE online that has a Sub 2 in their possession via normal retail channels. It's only review/pre-production samples.

Regardless of what various dealers/PR people are saying, it has got to be a sourcing problem. Some Chinese factory supplying a 10 cent amp component probably decided at the last minute that it was more lucrative to make iPhone components than subwoofer amp components, and left Paradigm high and dry.

Here are the exact words the Anthem person wrote me and confirms what the_phew stated in his post.
And yes I also have been waiting for several months.

"Sub 2s haven't been built yet beyond a very small number pre-production units which are working fine, as shown at CES last January. Production quantities of key parts in it have a long lead time and haven't arrived yet."

"As usual on AVS, someone is putting the cart before the horse."

They still have issues in Production on the Sub 2. Best case resolved by July and shipping in August. This is coming from a very reliable source. Now this has been the same story as before so best case is August but based on the past we are likely in for more delays. I am told I would get Serial #1 since October of last year. Sometimes I cannot believe I am still willing to wait.

All that confirms is that you have a quote from someone from Anthem That is saying something opposite from someone from Paradigm. It doesn't confirm anything beyond the fact that the company as a whole can't get their story straight on this product... Which is never a good thing.

I just installed my "Paradigm Loaner Sub1. Serial #054

As they promised my local Paradigm dealer,
Simply Stereo, Hoffman Estates, Il

delivered a Sub1 for me to use until Paradigm ships the Sub2 I ordered.
After a break in period and the PBK setup I will post the charts and my thoughts.

So far after a few quick listens to various music it sounds very good.

Asked my dealer if he knew anything about the Sub 2 delays and he said he only heard there was a part shortage. Don't think he know much more than any of us here..... he probably just follows the avs forums and picked up that idea here.

Well, I ran the first PBK on the Sub 1 and here are the results. A dramatic improvement on the curves and tightened the sound.
I cannot say I am hearing anything spectacular over my 2 main Genesis 5.3 speakers with their powered woofers.
I have spent most of my listening time with stereo music.
Extended BD surround listening still to come.
The second Thumbnail shows the Sub1 woofer after running the Anthem ARC program on the entire system.
The green line is the final result

Thank you for posting that second picture showing the measured response of a PBK treated sub. The EQ'd results look very close to the projected target. Very nice. Hopefully your long wait for the SUB2 will pass quickly now as you get to play around with a SUB1 while discovering the best location for its big brother.

My room is around 3000 cubic feet at most, and ive been waiting for the sub2 but having read the sub25 thread first, im thinking this may well be a viable option. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I have the Ultimate high end setup now so I want the ultimate Sub to go with it. Having a a couple of Sub 25's just does not cut it compared to having a Sub 2. I just do not want any regrets when I finish my system and the sub 2 is the last piece to add. That is the only reason I have not gone down the path of 2 Sub 25's. Plus I have a Sub 1 to play with until the Sub 2 arrives.

What is your impression of the Sub1 ?
I too have one of "Their Loaners ". I would like to compare thoughts on what you have heard using it.

Actually the Sub 1 is pretty good. I am by no means blown away however. Music sounds good and it blends very well with my S8's. Movies are good as well. Short quick booms are really cool as you can feel them in your chest. I am hoping the sub 2 will be just over the top great for the $'s we are paying. I have a 240V outlet that has been waiting for almost a year to have something plugged into it. My Sub 1 is in the Cherry finish and I love cherry wood color and finish but the sub 1 looks like crap in my opinion. My sub 2 will be in piano black like all my other signature gear.

I know I started this thread months ago and the prototype at CES did sound really really good [$10,000 worth of Trinnov gear may have helped too]...

FYI, you can get one or two JL AUDIO F213's now. Stereophile loved them!

For all you guys on the waiting list for the Sub 1 maybe you should reconsider.

Yes its apparently sat in the warehouse of the distributors over here.

To be honest I am as very surprised as I was originally told 90 days when I paid the deposit and that was around 3 weeks ago. Especially considering you guys in the states are still waiting.

I spoke directly with the VP of Operations at Paradigm today and not sure who told the lie about the Sub 2 not coming out but it IS NOT TRUE. Full production is starting mid-August with delivery to follow quickly. Issue was with some backlog on components and I was told by the VP that he would not let this thing ship until it was perfect. So I guess we all just need to be patient and hang in there but the Sub 2 is coming for sure. I am a VP of Operations as well and the conversation I had with the guy was great as we basically shared similar backgrounds and experiences. He is basically dealing with the typical problems of running operations but he is on it, he was very honest, and I believe Paradigm is doing all they can to fix this.

As I said in post 211 (top of page 8), $400 ARC and $300 PBK did 100% of the room correction. I partly set it up...
