Very true however I'm reminded of the Sub 25, that didn't seem to be around long enough. I know when it was introduced and I purchased one for LFE duties and I had planned on replacing my two Servo 15a's with two more Sub 25's but it was replaced before I had an opportunity to do it. I think probably the Sub 1 sales ate into Sub 25 sales to much or they weren't selling enough of either so one had to go.

Yeah it's a shame, because from what I've read, the sub25 is a beast.

Their website is likely out of date. They have been discontinued for nearly 5 years. If they do have any it should be at a substantial discount. Sub 1 / Sub 2 are new designs that perform better for most people.

The sub 25 is a beast "its not far off the SVS PB 13 Ultra size" I'm a sub 1 owner and I love mine, it is more compact and to me a better design than the 25, plus it gives you near enough the same performance as the 25, depending on your room it might even be better than the 25. The 25 is still a stellar performer though and I can't knock it, I nearly bought it over my sub 1.

The sub 2 is a killer sub, but it is massive" if you have dedicated room it might be the way for you to go, if you can't find a sub 25 and crave that bit deeper bass, if you are looking for a compromise , then I don't think you will get much better than the sub 1. Paradigm really nailed it with the sub 1 for the average Joe Bloggs room.

that's JMHO

Yeah the sub2 is huge, even the sub25 is a bit big.
My livingroom is only about 12 x 14ft. The sub1 will fit in the corner where my Velodyne DD12 is.

Roughly the same size as mine, I don't think you will go wrong.

Are you able to get on out to try in your room?

Ok thanks, sounds promising. I need to save up some and sell my DD12.

Try and get one out on home demo first if you can you have a good sub there in the DD12, though I'm sure the sub 1 / 25 will be a big step up for you.

I had an F112 a few years ago, but downgraded my system a bit. I prefer the user interface of the DD, but the F112 sounded better, although with some tweaking, the DD goes a bit deeper.

I'll struggle to get a home dem as I live in Ireland. No dealers here. I'd even have to fly to the uk for a demo.

I love my Sub 25.....like Mark said it's a movie sub for sure....something about what it does...I've not come across a smaller sub that comes close...so sure it's physically large..but I'll live with it given what it brings to the party....

That's a LOT of sub for your room.

Also look at the Martin Logan subs. Bipolar design and built in the same factory but much cheaper.

There is actually a used descent I for sale at the moment, but I'm unsure if it will be an upgrade over my DD12?

I have a Descent i and it is awesome. It's 3x10" was a big upgrade from my 2x12" Mirage sub. Very good on music of course, reasonably compact, and attractive to look at.

Sounds good.
I see it's supposed to be -3db at 18hz, would you say it has much output below that or does it took off rapidly?

No idea, sorry. I just run ARC and don't play around. I can tell you the bass on Mad Max Fury Road is so intense I had to turn the LFE down like 10 dB from the calibrated level for that movie!

Hi all, just catching up on this thread. Does anyone have a Sub 2 on 120v? Paradigm states better output when using 280v.

Sent from my Dumb Phone, please pardon any spelling errors - my phone is not very smart.

Been thinking about upgrading my subs to a one with a smaller footage and then the sub 2 seems like a great one. Been reading this thread from start to beginning but havent get the impression how loud you guys are listening to your movies. I listen pretty loud and the subs are only 2-3db from reference (my subs are dual 3x12 which is six 12" drivers) So the questions i guess will the sub 2 keep up in this regards ?

Thanks the thread and all the great info in it!

Paradigm! The factory in Canada builds the higher-end ML's now. Lower models are made in China.

Hi,

I use a Sub 2 in a 7 * 4 meter room, with two openings, and it literally shakes the entire house, including projector shake in some movies (aka Mad Max....) ...

As these are so expensive, try and see if you can drop in and visit someone/shop to see just how powerful these subs are. I am sure that you will be impressed.

I listen loud when Wife is out...

Andy.

Can any owners on here offer any comparison of the Sub 1 to the Sub 2 in terms of outright performance? I'm aware the Sub 2 can shift more air, and can reach a little lower than the Sub 1, but are those the only main differences, or are there improvements in speed, definition etc also?
