As the title says. Can I feel the bass with this subwoofer? This subwoofer is retail at MSRP $2995. If it can be had for $1195 [brand new], would you consider buy it over Fathom f112, or ML Depth i?

I have satellite speakers Focal Dome.

There is a test of the 908 on avtalk. From what I see, it really does not look that impressive. And I really like Focal. I personally think that the f112 would be a much better sub for impact and staying "composed" at high listening levels.

It ain't easy being green.

That's reassurance since f112 is my favorite too except the price. Time to save some more.

In the recent shootout in Sound&Vision, the F112 showed that its strength lies in the upper octave. Maximum output of 118.2 at 63 Hz. 95.4 db at 22.5 Hz. Below 22.5 Hz distortion was above 10% at all settings.

Just for the sake of comparison, the SVS PB-12 Plus did 115 db at 20 Hz while still managing to put out between 108.7 db and 115 db from 20 hz to 80 Hz.

If I were you I would get the HSU ULS-15 at the Halloween sale price of $1,099 plus shipping. This will have more output, especially below 25 Hz. Owners report useful response to ~10 Hz.

I know I can get a comparable performance or better with HSU Research & SVS subwoofers at a 1/3 the price, but for some reason I don't fall in love with them, cosmetically. I may have to examine them closely again in my quest to get a great subwoofer -- whether I can overcome the appearance.

Meanwhile, I have some newbie's questions regarding subwoofer. I have read through vendor's manual but I still could not comprehend. I am comparing features between JL Audio f112/113 and ML Depth i/Descent i. Both vendors have one unique feature on their sleeves (except the JL ARO, I can use Odyssey w/ML). The f112/113 doesn't have 50Hz control while Descent i doesn't have 'polarity' control.

1. What is the significance of 50Hz Control and Polarity Control?
2. Which one is more usable feature?

Thanks.
